Static balance tonearm a bit unbalanced...

By David  May 11, 2003 | 11 out of 11 found this Sony PS-LX250H review helpful

I bought this turntable when the JVC table that had served me faithfully for years went belly-up. Though at first I was pleased with the quality for the money, within a day or two I ran into some problems-several records that didnt skip on my old tab...le (with the tonearm set at zero weight!) will skip on this one. Wheres the low mass static balance tonearm now? Sony should have provided a heavier tonearm as was common on cheap turntables in the past-better to have worn vinyl than skips! Id recommend that anyone who is serious about records, certainly any collector or dealer, pass on this one and get a table with an anti-skating(aka adjustable weight) tonearm, which is what I should have done in the first place, now Ive got two buy two turntables to get rid of my old records on eBay.
