  • Overall:

    Sony Clie PDA w/ camera

By Frustrated Patient  May 23, 2002

This handheld has it all. At least it seems that way. I found the unit to be as light weight as other comparable models of various brands. Some of the subtle but neat features are an always available keyboard, a good size screen and 16MB if interna...l memory. You can add up to 128MB at a time by way of a Sony memory stick. A really neat feature is that the backlighted screen swivles so that the screen is protected from scratches, etc., in closed positionTo end a session, all you have to do is hit the on/off button and the Clie goes into suspend mode. This means that when you want to carry on with your session, you simply turn on the switch and everything is just like you left it.To Sync the Clie to your desktop is a breeze. There is a button on the screen and a button on the cradle. Programs are transfered without a hitch. The model PEG-NR70V/U has all of the above features with the addition of a discrete digital camera, with a swivel lens that takes photos of anything in virtually any light in almost any direction. It auto focuses so all you have to do is point and click. The drawback on the camera model Clie is that the photos are all saved in a proprietary format and at a slightly lower resolution that I would prefer. Since everything seems to be geared to .jpg format these days, it is dissapointing that SONY has chosen to go this "my way or hit the road" format. Come on guys, didn't you expect a complaint on this one? Things could be so nice if you would just simply comply. All in all, I found the Clie to be one of the most versetal PDAs on the market. With all I know about it, I would not hesitate to suggest it to my friends. Read more Less
