    Sony Does it again!

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Dec 4, 2003 | 2 out of 2 found this Sony NW-MS11 review helpful

    Pros: none

Cons: Unsupportive Customer service,Only 1 kind of meg sticks useable, battery ind. very lowsy

Well I have nothing good to say about this mp3 player besides for it looks good. When I purchased this device I also bought a 256 magic gate pro card. After i get everything together and spend a hr. trying to install there proprietary software, i realize that this player cannot use this $150 Meg stick I had purchased. I bought this mp3 player on the basis I could upgrade the memory (I already have a little 128mb mp3 player) so this does me absolutely no good. This is just big business milking everyone for what they can get away with. I seen nowhere on their support site that had anything to do with what types of meg sticks you could use besides for they had to be magic gate. I typically spend ~8k a yr. on sony only products because I have normally been happy with their products. Now I try to make everything work together and it all goes to hell. So now I have purchased 3 different types of memory sticks for each of my 3 sony products I use most frequently. Is it hard to conceive that we (the consumer) might want to have 3 meg sticks to bring on vacation with our digital camera and then use them in other products that we would normally only use at home? But rather we are forced into buying the same item with a different name and slightly different programming.

What a Shame! –I know they lost my money.

    It's good enough.

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Nov 25, 2003 | 0 out of 1 found this Sony NW-MS11 review helpful

Pros: Good sound quality, compact, slim & stylish.

Cons: Come with only 128 Mb memory, Only works with it's own battery.

I just bought it for last few weeks. Well, it came with the software OpenMG jukebox version 2.2
I have thousands of MP3 in my harddisk. And yes, you have to convert it to ATRAC3 in order to store it into the memory stick, for better performance and sound quality from my opinion. So far there is only one album which is having this problem for me: format not recognize.. or something like that. I think it is because of my setting when I convert those music into MP3 format by using other software. However I don't have the album's cd right now so I can't do anything to find out what's wrong with it.
The performance of this network player is good in overroll. and it comes with real good sound quality. As I've compare a few other's MP3 player with my friends. You can choose the quality for those music for 66, 105, or 132 kbps while converting it to ATRAC3. For me the disadvantage for this walkman is it didn't come with a equalizer. It only comes with the feature emphasizing Mega Bass like usually sony does. In addition, I am using Sony MDR-E888 ear phone to compare it with other brands MP3 players.
The frame of this network player is not so perfect if compare with other sony products that I've owned before. For example like the 'seesaw button' is kind of loosing, and the "glass" for the display is not hundred percent fit to it's shell. Well, maybe it only come with the one that I bought, but it's just a little problem, since it still function very well.
According to the manual book , usually the battery will stay around 10 hours if it is continues playing. For me, as I always playing around with it's features, `and the light is always on, it still can stay around 5 ~ 6 hours. And yes, the display will lid to warn before it running out of battery. for me the disadvantage is the charger, it didn't have something like LED to lid when the battery is ready.
So far I am feeling good with my sony network walkman. Well, I have to admit that it comes with higher price if compare to the others brand under the same condition. But it's sony, and this what they always does. For better quality.

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Jul 3, 2003 | 2 out of 2 found this Sony NW-MS11 review helpful

    I love the model..

It's so small and it has enough memory.

But, It's a little bit expansive..

I think that would be like..159-169 dollars..

    Anyways, I love that product

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Nov 9, 2002 | 6 out of 16 found this Sony NW-MS11 review helpful

this mp3 player is the besy i have ever seen it is a little on the heavy side and the earbuds arent that good but the memory is AWSOME!!! what it lacks in weight it makes up for in other areas it makes up for in memory. it could be a little cheaper but theat is sony for ya. if you want a cheaper one i would say a yepp is the right one. what i dont like is the AAA batteries because they are hard to find and expensive. now that you have read this you should know that i havnt got one of these.

    Shame on Sony

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Aug 7, 2002 | 5 out of 8 found this Sony NW-MS11 review helpful

The concept of this product was very intriging. I was hoping to move music from my hard drive to the NW-MS11 with ease. That was not the case. You first have to download software that enables you to transfer music onto the device. The software is not friendly and it didn't work. This is in now way like burning music onto your cd burner. After hours of trying to figure this thing out I decided to return it.

    Very disappointing . . .

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Jul 24, 2002 | 13 out of 17 found this Sony NW-MS11 review helpful

I was so disappointed with this product. I have been waiting and waiting for this to come in (at Tweeter) and I finally bought it the other day and returned it a day later. I really wanted it to work for me, but it just didn't. I hated that it required me to use the OpenMG software, the conversion from mp3 to ATRAC3 takes too long, and it's very restrictive due to copyright violations. It wouldn't even let me convert most of my mp3s to ATRAC3 format because of this. If you're like me, and think you'll be able to buy this and just copy mp3 files from your PC to this player via a USB cable, you're going to be sorely disappointed.

On the up-side, it's really sleek-looking. Great design, light-weight, and fantastic sound.

    good idea... bad implementation

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Jul 17, 2002 | 4 out of 5 found this Sony NW-MS11 review helpful

First it doesn't really support MP3... you need to convert all your MP3 recordings to ATRAC and then transfer them to the player. So you either have duplicate copies of all your recordings or each transfer takes 20 minutes. Second, the battery doesn't hold a charge or shit... and the replacement batteries cost approx. $30 and the little door that holds the battery breaks if you look cross-eyed at it. Buy the Nike 120 instead... it supports _real_ MP3, runs on a AA and has a good arm band to boot.
