    Well worth the Investment

By Christopher  Sep 25, 2007 | 1 out of 1 found this Sony MDR-NC60 Noise Cancelling review helpful

Pros: Excellent Sound Cancellation, Easy to Use, Monitoring Button

    Cons: Sound Quality

I picked these headphones up about two week ago and have been on 6 flights since I've had them. I have had every pair of noise cancelling headphones on the market, including the Bose QuietComfort's. I will say that Bose does beat them in th...e sound department, but when it comes to making flights a quiet ride, these are far superior. I also like the fact that unlike the bose, they work even without the batteries. Also, they have a button that allows you to cut the noise cancellation as well as the music so that you can hear someone talking to you. I don't know how the stand up in the manufacturing world, but if you read the packaging, they are marketed for business travelers, and as one, I have to say they are the best. Read more Less

Compared these to the Bose QC3

By PJ Farmer  Feb 6, 2008

Pros: Price, comfortability, monitor switch, AA battery

    Cons: Sound

When I first got them, I thought they sounded static-y. But then when I made the mistake of comparing them with the QC-3, wow! What a difference. The Sony has a bit of a hum that some users say is also present in the QC2 (I had 3 other colleagues do ...the compare too. 2 of 3 could hear the hum). But the bose is so much clearer, fuller, and has much better highs and midranges. The base in the sony is pretty sweet though. Here is more food for thought -- I took them both to the gym, and the QC3 does not work with the cardio theater audio boxes attached to the machines unless I use the airplace adapter (which then quiets the sound to annoying levels). Odd. You might be happy with the Sonys, if you aren't an audophile and if you don't do a side-by-side with the QC-3. Read more Less
