Best LCD on the Standard Market

    By Ryan H  Jul 7, 2007 | 19 out of 19 found this Sony KDL-40XBR4 review helpful

Pros: Best Possible Picture Quality, Easy-to-Use Sony X-Bar

Cons: expensive (but you do get what you pay for)

I have been anticipating this TV since I got my XBR1 a while back (this one goes in the living room, the XBR1 goes in the basement bar). I hooked it up to my PS3 and DirecTV HD-DVR. I also picked up a Sony DreamSystem Surround Sound (DAV-HDX500). M...onster HDMI (Ultra 1000) for each; with Monster Optical and Digital Coax for sound from the PS3 and HD-DVR to the sound system. Simply put, I could not be happier :) Blu-Ray looks amazing, the sound is great, standard-def TV picture quality is more than acceptable, HDTV picture is staggeringly clear (also very smooth and easy on the eyes), PS3 video games are beautiful, and the X-Bar menu system is easier to use than any other HDTV I've gotten my hands on. My only complaint: For such a large purchase a longer, more comprehensive warrenty would be nice. Only giving me one year practically forced me to get the store's Performance Service Plan. Bonuses: 4 HDMI ports and 1080p resolution with 120hz frame rate make the TV effectively future proof. Read more Less

    Awesome LCD TV!!

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Jun 24, 2008 | 5 out of 5 found this Sony KDL-40XBR4 review helpful

    Pros: 120hz and picture quality

    Cons: none

This is a wonderful LCD TV. The picture literally pops when you have the picture motion on high. The price was quite high, but has dropped a few hundred dollars recently, so it is definitely worth the price. I recommend this t.v. to anyone. I'm ...happy I have mine. Read more Less

    Sony Bravia LCD HDTV Review

One really cool feature is the freeze feature which allows the viewer to freeze the a scene while the programming continues on the right side of the screen. The menu and functionality of this LCD TV will impress you as it did our review staff. It's one of the defining characteristics of Sony XBR TVs. Read more
