Immerse yourself in outstanding color reproduction and 1080p picture quality with the KDL-40V3000 LCD Flat Panel HDTV.

BRAVIA V-Series televisions are where Full HD 1080 starts. Performance functions like Live Color Creation and the 10-bit panel display assure picture quality, while BRAVIA Theater Sync offers easy one-button operation for enjoying a Sony A/V system. Add a sparkling new black picture frame design, quiet operation, and you have the new BRAVIA V-Series HDTV.

When it comes to high-definition TV the pinnacle of performance is achieved by using 1920 x 1080 display panels. And BRAVIA V-Series televisions have them. Full HD 1920 x 1080 panel resolution with over 2 million pixels (more than twice that of 720p HDTV) is exactly what you need to reproduce the 1080p content. And working with BRAVIA Engine EX everything from standard definition and high definition is upconverted to 1080p for a picture so real it's like you're actually there.

While it's great to state that a TV is capable of creating billions of colors it's a whole lot better when you have a display that can actually display them. That's the logic behind Sony's 10-bit processor and 10-bit display. Sony follows 10-bit processing with a 10-bit panel, allowing 64 times the levels of color expression than an 8-bit panel. What that translates to is smoother transitions from color to color and subtle color changes faithfully reproduced.

Pros: Superb Picture Quality - Very Bright

    Cons: Speakers are average

Before I go any further I think I should mention that I have worked in the television field for nearly 20 years. This includes time as a cameraman & editor at a major TV station in a top 10 market; and owning a broadcast editing and media duplication... company for the past 18 years. We just got this set less than a week ago and the picture right out of the box wihout any major tweaking is SUPERB. It is in fact better than what I see on our broadcast type CRT monitors at my studio. (And just to allay any doubts - we've had Sony commercial HD equipment in our studios for close to 8 months,) The various video options and connections will work in most home situations. I found the speakers on this set to be only about average in audio quality. Of course, we have a high end sound system in our home; with mostly McIntosh audio equipment and higher end JM Lab speakers - so the comparison is probably not the fairest. In any event, we route most of our audio through our audio system and it sounds much better that way. Having looked at most of the major brand offerings in the 40-42 inch screen screen size - both plasma and LCD -I think it's hard to find a better picture for an under $2000.00 set. I highly recommend this Sony model to anyone looking in this end of the HD screen market. Read more Less

    Pros: picture quality

    Cons: sound a little normal

U cannot believe how good the picture of this tv is. Really breathtaking. The sound lets u a little down but on the other hand dont expect the boxy sound of the old crt tvs with their big enclosures. Pictures and controls are plenty. The blacks are w...onderful, the colors fascinating. Ease of use and beatyful. Sony right on the spot with this tv. Read more Less
