    Recorder itself is good... but Sony is a real cheapskate...

    Strength:- Fast Recording : At 4xLP PC to MD mode, it usually takes 3 to 5 secs per song(about 3~4 min length)- Recording Capacity : For 80-min minidisc, I could hold about 60 songs.- Compact Size : Small and Cute thus easy to carry- Straightforward ...Interface : Unless you're a real dummy for electronics, it's very easy to operate.- Inexpensive Media : Those mp3 players are maybe smaller, but has limited memories. Clie handheld I am using can be a nice MP3 player, but the memory stick is too expensive just for that. MD is inexpensive yet quite massive, durable media in LP4X mode. (There is no significant loss of music quality, unless you're an expert hysterical about even small thing...) Plus, you don't really have to worry about scratch unlike MP3 CD, unless you vandalize your minidisc. Some people might have problem with capacity, but in many cases you wouldn't really listen more than 60 songs at a time.Weaknesses:- Sony do not provide even a carrying pouch made of soft cloth for US model. (They do in JPN model) Plus, Sony do not even mention about the friggin' pouch on the manual. Cheapskate! I just don't want to carry this small MDP in the "idiotic-looking&quo
    t; huge waist carrying case sold in market.- US model seems to support some 2-byte characters... but it might need specific language version of Window.- Cannot listen musics directly with headphone while it is on the cradle. (Maybe I do not know how, but I couldn't make it work...)- Sony now doesn't even give a plastic case for minidisc.Overall : It's worth the money.     Read more Less

    Pros: excellent transfer rate, it was very fast, the remote is easy to use, LCD light is very nice

    Cons: bad headphones, bad remote exterior, software hard to use, manual is confusing, where's my carrying pouch?

    i finally received my sony mzn10 from minidisc canada. i ripped apart the package as soon as i received it, like on xmas haha. i didn't notice that it didn't come wit ha carrying pouch until i started to read the manual. the manual was badly ...organized, the netMD uses a USB port, you should include that under "recording" not near the back of the pages, with instructions how to USE the sonicstage program. which i might add, is a hard to use program. okay, so i let the fact that it has a crappy headphones go. because i expected it, sony is cheap company who makes great products, but let the details go. the head phones are very well, cheap looking, the remote is plastic, why plastic? why would you use plastic on an important item. the plastic makes the remote look cheap too, even though with a silver finish. it just looks wrong. i expected it to be aluminum. the software is hard to use because of MUSIC DRIVE, it took me a while to figure out what MUSIC DRIVE is. you apparently are suppose to take songs from your harddrive and put it on music drive, then send it and convert it and finally record it (I also blame it on the manuals). the only sturdy looking items in this package is the USB, and the MZN10 itself. the remote should be improved. with easier touch buttons. The charging stand is fine, it's plastic, like it should be, that's not as important as a remote. and the AC power Adapter and the dry cell case is very plastic too. it all looks like it's some toy, i am mad at MD canada because i didn't get my carrying pouch too. very disappointed in this item which i heard greatly about and anticipated greatly for. but the transfer rate is pretty fast, and the LCD screen is nice. the graphics on the remote is nice. but exterior finish need to be improved greatly.sure sony made a great item, but they really gota start watching out for the DETAILS! because if i buy another MD, i really might switch companies.
