    Poor Camcorder...Even Worse Customer Ser

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Feb 6, 2002 | 2 out of 4 found this Sony DCR-TRV20 review helpful

    To Prospective Sony Camcorder Buyers....

I purchased a SonyTRV20 camcorder in October of last year.....6 weeks later it started producing video footage that was blue so I sent it in to the nearest service center as directed by the Sony sales associate. Well, its February now and I still haven't got my camcorder back! I have called numerous times and keep getting the run around. I am afraid that my camcorder has been lost or stolen and they are just stalling. The bottom line is this: stay away from Sony products! I am a professional videographer and I will never again do business with a company that leaves its customers out in the cold.

I sincerely hope this helps you make a sensible decision. I just wish someone had informed me prior to dropping almost $2000!

I want to buy a DCR-TRV20 but it is very expensive for me, because in my country the medium salary is 100$. I am interested to buy one even second hand, but in good conditions. It is not necesarily this model DCR-TRV20. It could be DCR-..., just miniDV to be.
I have a PC and I Work with Adobe Premiere 5.1. I working to a national television, but I want one for myself, because I want to make more reportages about my country and photos. Everyone must to see the special things from here: Romania.

    Ridiculous!

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Mar 1, 2001 | 1 out of 1 found this Sony DCR-TRV20 review helpful

I bought this product last December. What I want is a DIGITAL camcorder and so I can input digital video to my computer. However, after I got it , I found that I had to buy i-link cable. O.K. Keep buying. I picked up a cable. Ooh! where is the software? There is no software coming with it to support DV input function. I called sony customer support only to find they don't sell this kind of software. In this case, what's the difference between a DIGITAL camcorder and an 8mm camcorder???

    Sony DCR-TRV20 Digital Camcorder

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Feb 22, 2001

I would highly recomend this product. I have used the still picture feature and the resolution is great. I have emailed pictures to several friends and they look very clear. The features of this camera are easy to use and the small size of the camcorder is very convenient. I also purchased the IR accessory for wireless transmission to my TV. This is a very cool feature. I just sit the camera on my table and push play. There are several editing features that I have not fooled with yet. I expect them to be very functional and easy to use. This camcorder was worth the money.

    Great little camcorder...

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Nov 17, 2000

I have owned this camcorder for 4 months and have really enjoyed it.
The video is very good--but not broadcast quality like some people say. It is very easy to use, especially when you also have the "laser-link" receiver.
It is capable of taking VERY good digital pictures when used with plenty of light. In low-light situations the pictures will show some noise. The software that comes with it is OK for downloading the pictures using the serial port, but is not much for editting the pictures (I suggest Adobe Photoshop).
I have had no problems or malfunctions at all through approx. 4 hours of recording and 50 digital pictures.
You can e-mail me for examples of digital photos if you would like to.
Overall, a good value, even at $1500.

    Image Stabilizer

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Aug 13, 2000 | 1 out of 2 found this Sony DCR-TRV20 review helpful

The description memtioned both Optical and Electrical Image Stabilizer coming with this unit, but which it really is.

Optical Statbilizer does not sacrifice the resolution while Electrical one does. Could make big difference in perfermance.
