Pros: easy to use and hard drive stores lots of video

    Cons: focus doesn't adapt always

This is a great light camera that provides incredible storage space. I can record over 7 hours on the 30GB harddrive. The battery life is suppose to last just over 2 hours and it has in all my usage. The best part of the system is that I can delet...e content on the fly if I don't want it. Wish the digital images that it took were better than the recording quality of 800x640??. The focus sometimes a minute or two to adjust automatically, but usally will if you hold it steady. Also, when using the camera indoors or at close range, it is hard to get the entire view that you might want. I ordered the wide angle lens for it and hopefully this will improve my interior shots. Also, the drop sensor works great. (Tested accidently three times in one week) Read more Less

    Pros: easy to use

    Cons: image quality

I just bought this recently and i'm more than impressed. It is very easy to use and the hard drive space is more then enough. I did buy a five hour battery because the 1 and half hour battery it came with would die fast and didnt seem like it wou...ld put out more then 40 minutes. Overall this is a wonderful camcorder for those who want something simple and still great results.. Read more Less

Sony's DCR-SR40 is a solid, midlevel, hard-drive-based option, though still-image buffs won't be impressed with this camcorder's submegapixel snapshots. Read more
