Simple digital video and still image recording is here with the DCR-DVD92 DVD Handycam camcorder. It's simple because Sony has created a camcorder with easy-to-use features, and you can record directly onto DVD. Features such as Super SteadyShot Image Stabilization compensates for camera "shake" and makes it easy to record smoother video. It's also easy to capture distant objects with 20X optical zoom and 800X digital zoom.

Though easy-to-use, the DCR-DVD92 is fully capable of capturing difficult shots. With Super NightShot Plus infrared system, you can record even in low light situations. The 2.5" LCD screen provides image clarity and easily rotates to give you the best possible viewing angle. The DCR-DVD92 also comes with additional LCD touch screen controls for extra convenience. Could digital video and digital still image recording be any easier?

    Beware

By JOSEPH  Apr 22, 2005 | 77 out of 86 found this Sony DCR-DVD92 review helpful

    Pros: size, price

    Cons: DVD+rw NOT AVAILABLE

I purchased the DVD92 because in the specks for this Camcorder Sony states that with a DVD+RW you can play the DVD in a player without being finalized. When I got the Camcorder a booklet of accessories was included and it listed the mini DVD+RW with ...a price and a part number. Sounds good but just try and order them from Sony. I spent two days sending Sony emails and calling various phone numbers. The only answer I can get from Sony is to order them from a dealer, the dealer that I order the camera had no record of them. Sony also suggested that I try a third party. I seem that Sony over extended the market by indicating a feature of its campcorder when the media is not available. Read more Less

    I Like It But......

    By ILLINOISBWLR1960  Oct 7, 2008

Pros: You can take closer images than from a standard digital camera

Cons: You can't upload videos from this camera.......That's a big con !

The DVD 92 is a good video camera only problem is you can't upload videos to your computer. The good thing is you can take still images from this camers as well. If you buy DVD-RW you do have to finalize but after you are completed with your task... you can format the camera and that erases all images from the camera so you can re-use your disk over again. Oh by the way since you can take still shots take my advice from experince do not take the DVD 92 to a rock concert I did that and even though I was taking still shots it gives the impression that you are taking videos.....Well I guess you live and learn. Sony DCR-DVD92 Camcorder Review

Although the camcorder provides convenience and comfort to the consumer, its shortcomings are too significant to overlook. This model has poor video and low light performance, with considerable noise and meager color representation. It is important to emphasize that its expensive sibling, the DCR-DVD203, armed with a far better imager, did not fair well in the low light department either. Convenience at an affordable price is the final draw for this camcorder. If you seek top notch performance and more manual control, seek a higher-end model. Remember that frugality has its consequences. Read more
