Pros: a chepa point and shoot wit a big display and decent lense.

Cons: it's a point and shoot.

I love this camera, actually. It's nice to to have a cheap point and shoot with some manual features. You get a decent lens, a big display, and you don't have to be worried about pointing it out a window, shooting from a bike, or chucking it at a raging attacker. It's a great value. It's surprisingly rugged too, I've had it for three years and it's still going strong.

Pros: Robust, durable, easy to use and great for many situations.

Cons: None that I have found.

This was my first camera. It is a great camera for the begginers who are looking for a smaller camera that can fit in your pocket but has enough punch to make proffesional looking large prints. It is very durable seeing how I have dropped mine multiple times and it still keeps on kicken. The versatility is great especially for a beginner as you begin to explore what types of photography you are interested in. The many features that are included are extremely easy to use and are extremely useful when you are discovering different aspects of photography. This is a five star piece of equipment that will compiment any photographer's creative eye.

Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W5 Digital Camera

Pros: Cheap, Large Display, Automatic Lens Cover, Focus Assist Lamp, Standard AA batteries, LCD Display is not sticking outward where it can be damaged, fits in a pocket, Power doesn't turn itself on when inserted in a pocket

Cons: Uses rip-off Sony Memory Stick media instead of SD cards, 2gb memory stick limit, no longer in production

Well, the pros an cons pretty much cover my review. hehehe

I bought this with an open box discount at Circuit City in Sand City, California, USA for $200. At the time, that I bought it, it was $100 cheaper than the unopened box price. It worked fine. So, I guess the best advice is to purchase open box cameras from Circuit City, since they come with the regular warranty and a huge discount.

I guess the biggest con of this camera, is that now that Sony doesn't make 10 megapixel cameras, with all of the above 'pros'. I guess they learned the error of their ways in making a reliable, pocket-sized camera with a sturdy LCD, and non-proprietary batteries. So um, yeah, I guess that's the end of that. :D

Oh, I gave 'support' a 1 out of 5 because although I never used it for this camera; I've tried getting help from Sony on their HDR-HC3 video camera. When you reach Sony's 'tech support', all you get on the other end of the line, is a person with a list of authorized service centers. Basically, just pray that nothing breaks, because although the parts may be covered under warranty, the labor is likely at least $250 USD. -Whether or not you've still got $1000 left to pay on your Circuit City 2 years, no interest purchase of said device. :D

Work Horse

Pros: Great photos in great lighting; Solid, heavy construction; Large LCD; Good movies

Cons: Poor photos in poor lighting; High price

My first digital camera died on me while I was out of town for a wedding. I was able to buy this at a Best Buy across from my hotel a few hours before the wedding. Its been a tried and true work horse for me. Given I use continuous numbering for my photos, I've taken over 2,500 pictures with it.

The pictures it takes in good conditions are fantastic. I'd pit them against my dSLR any day. However, I have a point-n-click for more impromptu photos (no camera phone). Don't bother with night or otherwise dark photos. It also has a slow shutter speed to make photos of motion blurry. For general use, its a good camera.

Cons: Bulky, AA Size Batteries

I was looking for my first digital camera and I am proud to say I made a good choice in buying the DSC-W5. Compared to other brands, it is very very user friendly and clicks great images - thanks to the Carl Zeiss lens. Only if the batteries were the ones like those we use in cell phones it would have been a lot less bulky. Still, I would definitely recommend the Sony DSC-W5 to any photography enthusiast!

My second Digital camera

Pros: Faultless

Cons: None found after a year!

This is my second digital camera, having had my first one who for over four years. The battery on that one was failing to keep its charge and as a new battery was going to be £40, I decided it was time to buy a new camera with rechargeable batteries. The battery life is astonishing, the camera is extremely full featured, an asset to me but possibly not to people that don't like sophisticated gadgets! I can only think that the people who say it's impossible to take a picture that isn't blurred must have very shaky hands. I've taken photographs of children animals and inanimate objects were no problems at all. I'm sure all cameras have improved a lot since I bought my first one, but I was stunned with the sophistication of this. My only slight criticism is that I seem to have a tiny bit of dust on the inside of the lens. The document patience states that it is neither waterproof nor dust proof.

Pros: The Carl Zeiss Lense and the large LCD display is really great

Cons: The motor of the zoom lens is quite noisy

This camera is really great. I've been using it for about a year now and so far it didn't give me any problems. It looks like a traditional camera but the features are really outstanding.
The thing is that you have to study the functions of this camera very well and be familiar with the settings for every given situation so that the camera will work well otherwise there will be a possibility of your pictures being blurry or out of focus.
It is packed with lots of features and to use it effectively you have to know when to activate these features and when to de-activate it.
In using this camera effectively you have to understand it because most of the features are not user friendly. But overall its a great camera.

Cons: Reliability! Cheaply made!

Camera fell apart at 15 months, despite infrequent use. Sony offered no solutions other than a $181 price-tag for repair. For that, I could buy 2/3 or 3/4 of a new camera. No thanks, Sony. Quite disappointed.
