Bought this about 2 years ago. Started breaking apart about 9 months later. Lens cover doors jam ALL the time. Everything jams in "M" mode...
I bought specifically to take lots of MACRO shots with the ease of storage that a point-n-shoot provides (this camera was highly recommended by J&R salesman in NYC). I have NEVER once been able to capture a close up properly with this camera!!
There are plenty of better cameras than this pricey rip off.

I guess the main drawback is the price (too expensive for the features it comes with).
Easy to use and the best thing is that you don't need to use lithium batteries, just normal batteries!!
The image quality is quite ok, more if you think that only if you are a professional you would need more MP; and if so, then you don't buy this small camera because you go to Nikon or Cannon. It is a good camera to carry on to everywhere, specially to parties (have you try to carry a Nikon D200 to a disco? no way)Was this review helpful? Yes - NoGood and easy to use

Cons: A bit thick, red eyes reduction is not very good
This camera is good for house use, the picture quality is enough good. The image quality of Sony Cybershot in overal is not good as Canon products but, we have many picture mode option to choice. With this camera, we can take picture in night scene, landscape, portrait or macro... I bought this camera in 2004 and still use it until now, and Iam completety satisfied.

I've been using this camera for one year and I'm really happy with it. It's my first digital camera - in fact my first camera ever. It was really easy to learn how to use the features. The picture quality, of course, is fantastic. I use the timer feature a lot. The camera is very light and easy to carry in a purse or pocket.

Pros: Good color shots
Cons: Poor durability with no customer service
This fragile little camera is not built to last. After 9 months of light use, the interior plastic latches on the battery compartment door broke. Sony refused to honor warranty and wanted $175 to fix it.
It is not durable enough even for casual use. Sony customer service is a joke.

Cons: slightly pixilated when prints are enlarged
Plenty of battery power is what attracted me to this camera.This is my first digital camera.Many years ago I was using an SLR nikon F3.Many years later I chose this sony camera because its great to see an image taken on the spot.The only draw back is the enlargements of prints may sometimes appear with pixalated edges.Great companion with laptop computers,and if your a graphic artist whose a wiz with Photoshop this camera is great to use.

The Sony DSC W1 is one of the best digital cameras I have used, the pictures are amazing, and it takes excellent pictures in the dark. I loved the strong flash. The menu is very friendly and easy to use, nothing is complicated, and you may also change the size and the quality of your image easily. The size is just fine and its light and can be carried easily. The only thing is that when using alkaline batteries they dont serve for a long time; some times you may need them when the battery charger is not around, and the memory stick supplied is only 32MB! Other than that, everything is very good. Trust me and try it yourself :)
