Pros: rich features
Cons: n/a
Packed with great features.
Quality is very good.
Pros: Nice one, WOW !!!
Cons: Nil.
I recently bought this Digital Camera and have been very satisfied so far. I am not the most tech-savvy person, but figuring out the controls and downloading the imaging software that comes with it was a snap.
Pros: Beautiful Compact Work of Art, Super-large screen, Smile-detection feature
Cons: Awkward Zoom Button, Bad Nighttime pictures
The camera takes great photos during daytime, but at nighttime, the camera still fails to impress me. The night pictures with flash (both types of flash) look unnatural and the ones without flash looks grainy and blurry (even with their so-called anti-shake technology). Overall, it does a great job of taking photos and you can't beat that beautiful 3.5" screen!! No more guessing whether the person's eyes were closed or not.
Pros: pocket size, large screen, 5X optical zoom
Cons: weak flash, image quality, battery life
The best thing about this camera is its small size and the 3'' screen. The image quality should be better (especially indoors and in low light conditions). Nice camera for trips, vacations, parties etc. In case you need something for more than these don't trust this camera!
Pros: HUGE Touchscreen, Small Size, Build Quality, Stabilization, Decent Images and Video
Cons: Battery life sucks. You'll need an extra battery.... Not kidding. Uses special Sony cables
I was dead set to get the Casio EX-V8 when I went to the store. However, I got to playing with the DSC-T200 and it was priced about 40% off. About 5 minutes with the touchscreen and I had it figured out.
I took some in-store images and video (as best I could with the silly 30MB built-in memory) and was impressed at the quick focus, great screen size, and abounding features. The 5X zoom is substantially better than the typical, not-quite--big-enough 3x that most cameras offer.
I did some quick ISO-testing. Its pretty decent until you get above 800, meaning you can actually use 800. Drops off real quick at 1600 and 3200. Macros with this camera are excellent and you can get as close as 1cm in super-macro mode.
Don't use the auto setting for indoor pictures. Put it on program, set your ISO to something reasonable, and you'll get good results. The auto setting uses too aggressive ISO gain and you'll be disappointed.
The movie quality is good, even on standard and can record a hour and 20 minutes on a 2GB memory card (less than 30 minutes at super high VX quality). 640x480 no problem. Sony uses MPeg format instead of MOV like nikon does, and PC users will be happy about that. YOU CAN ZOOM DURING MOVIES! Up to 5X! The sound is pretty good, I'd rate it 7 out 10.
Sony sells a 28mm wide angle adapter for $45, but I haven't tried it. There is a dock available but not included.
I don't like having to remove the battery to charge it, oh well. I hate memory stick instead of SDHC. I wish there was a dedicated instant movie button. The zoom button is a little small.
I'd buy it again, definitely a keeper. A lot of negative reviewers need to learn how the camera works before shooting their mouths off. This is not a camera to give to your parents. Its too hi-tech.
