  • Overall:

    Good value; Great starter PDA

By Bipin  Sep 18, 2002 | 2 out of 2 found this Sony CLIE PEG-T415/S review helpful

I wanted to get into using a PDA but I did not want to invest in too much money if all I ended up was a "toy". I looked around all the different brands out there. I immediately disliked the form-factor of the Palm and Handspring with the flared out... bottom. When I first saw the Clié, I immediately fell in love with it without it even being powered on. The styling is SO cool!! I got the T415 at a great price. I homed in on this particular brand because of the in-built remote commander! Haha... I had to have at least some "toy" in the PDA.The included Documents-To-Go is *very* useful for viewing/editing Word and Excel documents. I am using it all the time. I also bought a separate memory card because you can easily fill up the included 7 MB RAM. I got a 128 MB memory stick for a steal of a price, and now I have virtually unlimited memory. I put a lot of pictures on the card that I can view on the hi-res screen.Speaking of the screen, it is a *must* to download the font-fix hack. The default font thickness is almost impossible to read. After the hack, things get much better. The screen resolution itself is OK; nothing much to be wowed about. I have to consistently turn on the backlight when I'm indoors unless I have a direct light source. All in all, I'm pretty satisfied with what I got. I'm enjoying using it, and I think I'll stick with Sony for my next buy. But since I've never used a PocketPC edition, I may not know what I'm missing out on! Still there's no beating the sleek Sony design. Read more Less
