Issued via video production studio Plexifilm to consumers who preordered the company's staggering Galaxie 500 DVD retrospective Don't Let Our Youth Go to Waste, this gorgeous lemondropyellow vinyl release documents live renditions of On Fire's "Snowstorm" and Today's "Pictures" recorded during a March 1990 performance at Hollywood's Club Lingerie. Like the fulllength Copenhagen disc, the single proves the live Galaxie 500 experience significantly different than their studio records: minus the allenveloping reverb of their LP versions, the songs (particularly "Pictures," with its worseforwear Dean Wareham vocal) seem more direct and earthbound, recalling the Velvet Underground live bootlegs the trio no doubt absorbed along the waystill, the supple dreaminess of Naomi Yang's bass and the Zen simplicity of Damon Krukowski's drums retain the music's beguiling otherness.
