As punk rock fans might suspect upon hearing the name for the first time, Sloppy Seconds plays simple, melodic Ramones-derived music with a snotty, smartass sense of humor and an obsession with pop culture, especially B-movies. Hailing from Indianapolis, the quartet debuted on Alternative Tentacles with the First Seven Inches EP, which has since been reissued by Taang with extra tracks as The First Seven Inches...And Then Some Moving to Toxic Shock for their 1989 full-length debut, Destroyed, Sloppy Seconds achieved some notoriety for "I Don't Wanna Be a Homosexual," which to their credit was performed without mean-spiritedness; it also inspired an answer record from peers Screeching Weasel ("I Wanna Be a Homosexual"). The band next joined Taang for the 1992 EP Lonely Christmas and the next year's full-length Knock Yer Block Off. A live album of previously recorded material was issued on Triple X in 1996, followed two years later by More Trouble Than They're Worth. An EP, Garbage Days Regurgitated, appeared in mid-2000.
