SLIVER MUST BE RELEASED ON DVD!

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Sep 25, 2002 | 4 out of 4 found this Sliver (1993) review helpful

There are only a few movies that I would absolutely KILL for on DVD. One of them is LOOKER (1981), one is "To Wong Foo, Thanks For Everything, Julie Newmar", and the other is SLIVER. I hope someone with some authority out there is reading this, and... can get these movies released on DVD! Read more Less

    A delicious exercise in eroticism.

Pros: Remarkable chemistry between Stone and Baldwin, and titillating sexual situations.

Cons: Lacking in the suspense and terror departments.

Sharon Stone and William Baldwin ignite the screen in this very adult thriller, a highly sexed-up adaptation of the Ira Levin novel. Stone portrays Carly Norris, a divorced book editor who moves into a luxurious Manhattan apartment building and finds... herself pursued by two men: writer Jack Landsford (Tom Berenger) and computer software designer Zeke Hawkins (William Baldwin). Carly decides on Zeke, who, it turns out, is the owner of the building and a compulsive voyeur who maintains a video surveillance of every room in the place. Oh, there's also a psychotic killer who is running around murdering several tenants and who may also inhabit the building; however, the film concentrates mostly on supplying viewers with sexually arousing material, such as Carly getting herself off in a bathtub and Zeke wheedling Carly into removing her panties in a restaurant. Carly's encounter with Zeke in his apartment after their escapade in the restaurant is undoubtedly the film's most intense display of eroticism: A butt-naked Zeke lurks up on Carly as she peers out of his window, shoves her against a nearby pillar and ravenously fornicates her from behind until she releases an explosive cry of sexual satisfaction. Certain fans of Levin's book may not be entirely happy that the suspense and terror elements of the story take a back seat to the sex angle, but it's rather difficult not to be titillated by the erotic images that the movie shamelessly serve up.
