Pro Reviews: Sing-A-Long

  • All Music Guide

Having reached his 60s, Seeger asked Folkways to document a typical concert "before my voice, memory, and sense of rhythm and pitch were too far gone." What they got is this 25track, tworecord boxed set containing the amazing variety and depth of Seeger's repertoire, from the traditional "John Henry" to the African lullaby/story "Abiyoyo" to Charlie King's antinuke tune "Acres of Clams." But what most impresses is Seeger's rapport with an audience that is willing and able to sing along on every song.
