    Pros: small

Cons: disconnects too much, overhets a lot

This is the worse modem from sbc/att ever! i had a modem from efficient networks b4 and never had a problem! this modem disconnects too many times and it heats up a lot! the only thing about it is that its not too hard to install! overall i'd... give it a 1/5! Read more Less

Pros: it's much fast than dile up for AOL

Cons: it makes you want to throw it at a wall

I found that yes its much faster than dile-up connection obviously, the internet is just ok to use. However. it disconnects ALL the time and when ever i absolutely need to use the internet 95% of the times it'd disconnected and wont reconnect to... the internet. It really did make me want to throw it at a wall. On the good side, pages loaded faster, you can upload and download stuff faster that all dile-up connections. Which is still very sad. It does have good support and you usually get support within a few minutes of needing it by via phone and if they still cant solve it they have someone come over the next day. My dile-up hoster took a month to come but then again dile up only messed up 1 times over 4 years and this modem messes up constantly. It is on the other hand very easy to set up and install but once it messes up like i said before.. you need a lot of assistance. Over all i think for the quality it should only be around $20. $50 is not worth it at all and i would only suggest this router if you hardly ever use the internet for anything. If you plan on needing it for something extremely important at the time and NEED to stay connected, or if you plan to play games i do not suggest getting this router at all. Read more Less

    Pros: Easy to setup

Cons: keeping it running without disconnects

I just switched my online service from Adelphia cable modem service "768k" to At&t DSL "1.5m". The first thing I noticed about my new service was how cheap the Siemens 4100 DSL modem construction was. It felt like it was hollow, ...and that it would easly crack if dropped. Anyways, It took about 2 minutes to get it up and running on a single machine. The fasted connection test I ran was 1283kbs. Much better than the average 612kbs I was getting from the Motorola SB4200 unit that I was replacing. So after all my tests seemed to be O.K, I connected it to a D-link DI624 router. Not the greatest router in the world, but it has never let me down. I've used this router with 4 types of highspeed modems in the past, all with fantastic results. To make a long story short, I had every single problem a human being could possibly have trying to get this modem to work with my router. At&t's service and support website was horrible. It offered no help what so ever for 3rd party routers. I went to D-links website and found a ton of information on all the problems I was having. D-link must have had numerous problems with thier wonderfuf EQ in conjunction with the crap At&t uses. After trial and error I was able to get the modem to work with my router. The main problem I and everyone else was having, was the fact that you have very little internal control over the settings for the Siemens 4100 modem. The best d-link offered was differnt ways around the horrible workmanship of siemans. I just wish At&t would atleast use a good name brand company for thier DSL service. Sorry i didnt get into all the tricks I tried getting the modem to behave. If anyone has any questions to ask about this horrible modem, please email me. Like D-link, I will try to help anyone out as much as possible, because I now know that At&t is just a complete waste of time. And now I am having issues with port addressing and connection failures, but thats another book. Read more Less
