Formerly known as the E500PTH, the SE530 and SE530PTH mark the bridge from the classic E Series line, to the new line of Sound Isolating Earphones from Shure (SE Models). Evolved from personal monitor technology road-tested by pro musicians and fine-tuned by Shure engineers, the SE530PTH and SE530 earphones deliver unparalleled acoustic accuracy. Triple TruAcoustic MicroSpeakers, one tweeter and dual woofers, deliver an expansive sound stage with full-bodied bass-for an auditory experience rivaled only by live performances.

Sound Isolating Design

Included sound isolating sleeves block over 90 percent of ambient noise. Combined with a low-profile ergonomic design and modular cable options, interruptions from the outside world are minimized -so you can focus on your passion. On occasions when you must tear yourself away from the music, the Push-To-Hear Control included with the SE530PTH activates a VoicePort microphone, allowing conversation without removing your earphones.

Triple TruAcoustic MicroSpeakers

Optimized for listening to high-quality recordings and lossless formats, the SE530PTH utilizes three balanced armature drivers - one dedicated tweeter and dual woofers. Additionally, integrated passive crossovers ensure that high and low frequencies remain distinct and defined. The result is an incredibly wide and detailed soundstage, distinguished by precision highs and robust bass. This innovative triple driver configuration is first in class for universal fit, sound isolating earphones.

Push-To-Hear Control (included with SE530PTH)

A first for sound isolating earphones, the detachable Push-To-Hear Control allows you to activate the VoicePort microphone and adjust levels of external sound for clarity¿ideal for brief conversations without removing your earphones. The switch allows you to conveniently alternate between your music and your connection to the outside world.

Similar to the microphones used in Shure QuietSpot cellular headsets, the VoicePort microphone is tuned to pick up the human voice, ensuring maximum intelligibility. Included with the SE530PTH, it is available as an optional accessory for all Shure Sound Isolating Earphone models, including the SE210, SE310 and SE420.

Premium Fit Kit Includes:

  • Sound Isolating Sleeves
The role of the included sound isolating sleeves is twofold: blocking ambient noise and ensuring customized fit and comfort. Because every ear is different, the Premium Fit Kit includes three sizes (S, M, L) of the Flex and Black Foam Sleeves as well as a pair of universal-fit Triple Flange Sleeves. Experiment with the size and style that creates the best fit for you - a good seal is key to optimizing sound isolation and bass response as well as maximizing comfort during extended wear.

  • Modular Cable
Based on extensive user feedback, Shure engineers have developed a detachable cable solution to enable unmatched personal customization. An included 3-foot cable (91 cm) and 9" cable (23 cm) allows you to tailor your experience depending on activity and application.

In addition to the sound isolating sleeves and modular cables, the premium accessories kit includes:

  • ¼" Adapter - Offers a solution for home stereos or other applications with ¼" jacks

    Best Earphone

By Jay  Sep 3, 2006 | 2 out of 2 found this Shure SE530 review helpful

Pros: The good: Shure's E500PTH 'phones offer exceptional sound quality with a three-driver design that's previously been available only for hundreds of dollars more; comfortable and do a great job of passively blocking out noise; includes push-to-hear control; multiple ear adapters and a nice set of accessories.

Cons: The bad: Pricey but a solid investment; switch on push-to-hear controller feels cheap.

The bottom line: If you're the type who prefers uncompressed or lossless formats, require low-profile headphones, and don't mind investing in high-end headphones, the Shure E500PTH should be on your short list.

Best earphones I've had so far

By SS  Aug 30, 2006 | 1 out of 2 found this Shure SE530 review helpful

Pros: Sound Quality, over the ear, comfortable

Cons: Little tricky at first to get them fitted for your ear, PTH bulky

I'd have to say these are the best earphones I've ever owned. The clarity of the music is remarkable. I switch between my old Sony earphones and the E500 earphones when I made the comparison. The bass response was tighter than I expected sinc...e my older Sony earphones were a little more boomy. I can't believe the amount of accessories you can get with one pair of earphones. So many choices that I was having a hard time deciding which was best for me. They had sleeves for all types of ears, big, medium, small, flanges, foams, etc. Not only that, they have long extension cords, short extension cords, volume control cord, etc.. I'm still trying to figure out what fits me best (I just received it today :) With the stock set of ear piece (which doesn't fit me best) it felt comfortable putting it on for extended periods of time. External sounds were reduced, but I can't confirm if it can reduce sound up to 90% as advertised since I'm still trying on earpieces. I could still hear conversations when the music was turned off, but when the music was on, all other sounds were gone. The earphones came with Shure's PTH (Push To Hear) device. It have a built in mic which would be used to hear outside noise. To be honest, I wasn't all that impressed. Shure was bigger than my Sony's controller (note that the PTH of the Sony was also for noise cancellation). I probably will only use them if I'm flying.. and that's a maybe. The mic did pick up a lot of rubbing when I was fiddling with it in my hands. The mic worked as expected, it drastically lowered the music, and turned on the microphone. The unit also wasn't really a push to hear, really it was more like a click to hear which I prefer since I've had experience with my Sony's where it went to mic mode because something in my pocket pressed the button. The case for the earpiece is very rugged. It's a rigid nylon material case with a zipper. It will protect the earpiece without any problems. Only thing I wish was that it had a center spool to help quickly roll up the earpiece without risk of it tangling. Over all, I am happy with it. It was very expensive, but if it can last me over a few years, then it would be worth it. I tried them in the airplane. If you're the type that wants to get rid of all noise, then you should go with a good pair of noise cancellation, otherwise these headphones reduce noise 80-90% depending on how good the earpiece seals on your ear. I could slightly hear the engine roar and a baby cry (in the same aisle), but with my music on, it was not noticable unless I paid attention to them. Still over all the sound quality is better than all headphones I tried out so far. Read more Less
