Sharp BD-HP20U Incompatible Disk Error
Pros: Good if it reads the disk
Cons: Will not play Warner Bros and Fox BD so far
My Sharp player is only 4 months old, and I am ready to throw it out the window. Not counting the time and money wasted on rentals and purchased BDs that it will not play, lets not forget about the 400+ sticker price. Sharp service has yet to do anything for me other than to say they dont know what the problem is.
There is nothing like looking forward to watching your favorite or new release movie on BD high definition only to find out it will not play, not because the disk is dirty (its fresh out of the package) but becuase the player has defective parts or the hardware cant handle the newly formatted BD. I have gone through 2 firmware updates already, but I dont expect a firmware update to fix this problem. The BD disks that wont play in my Sharp will play in other sharps and vice versa probably.
I wouldn't recommend this player to my worst enemy, its a pile of crap.
If you really want this particular model, I suggest you rent the Blu Ray movie title you are interested in before purchasing that is if its available.

Pros: Good picture (if it plays)
Cons: Only plays about half the Blue Ray movies I bought.
When this product work, it works well...Major drawback is that if finds about fifty percent of the existing Blue Ray Movies "incompatible". Support is limited to just a few resets (don't work), a software update ( made no difference.)...This item is less than two months old, and Sharp wants me to ship it to them at my expense for a "possible repair"...no guarantees.
My advice is to not purchase this product at all....there are a great deal of competitors out there now. I intend to trash this item and go with Sony.Was this review helpful? Yes - Nosharp blu-ray
Pros: nice sound/pic
Cons: updates.stinks plays some dvds and not others
sometimes it will play blue ray disks and sometimes it wont depends on the movie i guess sure stinks when u go buy a movie and it wont play,and u have to go find update sin order to watch the movie.but over all it was a great buy.
