The best movie ever

I couldn't think of a movie that touched me more deeply than Shakespeare in Love. I watched it again and again and I am always touched. Joseph Fiennes is so fine! His experience in the theatre has definitely helped him in this movie. I just love this movie!

A great primer for young Shakespeare newcomers and an enjoyable light film for older afficionados alike. Shakespeare in Love is a light romatic love story that works especially well with its casting of Gwyneth Paltrow as Juliet and Joseph Fiennes as Romeo. Both thesbians prove that on film they can capture and portray the intensity of love between characters which is the essence of this play and do it in the linguistic style of old shakespearean english with unflawed eloquence. Ms. Paltrow is evocatively beautiful and ladylike as Juliet and Mr. Fiennes assumes a young, energetic, cheerful, and of course pensive Will Shakespeare. Mr.Fiennes's enlightened character portrayal is a welcome change to the often over melodramtic acting that can accompany a traditional Shakespearean setting. While critics may look on the film unfavorably because it is not a "true" Shakespearian feat staged with serious acting and serious dialog, one will nevertheless enjoy this film if they expect a light romatic evening set in a time period of some 400 years ago. Lighten up critics. Sit back, relax, and delight in the film's comedic romanticism.

For a class assignment a year ago I had to watch this movie many times. I think it was about 7 times in 3 days. Every time I watched it, I found someting new about it, and realized the complex characters that develop before your eyes. I never once got tired of it and can still watch it again and again. The acting is a bit dramatic, but its about Elizabethan London! Of course it's going to be dramatic!

I always liked old stories but this one is a strange twist to Shakespear's story. Neither acting nor story were good. I tried to stay focussed but I couldn't.

I saw 7 Shakespeare plays in 2 weeks in London performed by the Royal Shakespeare Company. I saw "Shakespeare In Love" the night I flew home to the States. It was decent, at best. To this day, I cannot understand how it received the Oscar for best picture. Dame Judi deserves kudos, but I think the movie fell rather flat. With the exception of Dench, the acting was extremely mellodramatic. I was squirming in my seat at times. It's funny how horribly acted movies win Oscars (See "Titanic" - '97 Best Picture).

I believe that "Shakespeare in Love" is on of the all time best movies ever made and nothing can beat it. This movie showed the very truth and nature of love and i think that everyone should buy or rent this movie!

When you see all the criticism this film has come under('Stoppard had little to say in his script', 'Fiennes failed to convince' etc.) you only have to watch it yourself and you will realise that nothing could be further from the truth.
Fiennes is excellent, the script is beautifully written with some fine one-liners, and the score is superb. What about Paltrow? Well, I'm not really convinced she should have won that Oscar, but maybe if I watch it again I might agree. On top of all this, the costumes and supporting actors also stand out. Personally I think that this is one of those films that gets better every time you see it, for I didn't really enjoy it first time, but when I gave it another chance I did not regret it. It is for feel-great movie. I cried with endings. Gywenth Paltrow is excellent performance and she won best actress for Oscar. Winner 7 Academy Awards, including Best Picture. Must see it!!! It will make you feel better.

I loved this movie with all my soul, it was better than the real romance of all time (romeo and juliet). The actors abilities was done so well they captured your every sense of your being into their character. You were ablivious to anything around you except their storyline.
I loved it. I had not seen it prior to the oscars but when gwenth paltro won for best actress over such a group of other great actresses. I knew the movie must be great and it was. Amazing, that is all in itself. Amazing
