Synopsis: Sergeant Rutledge (1960)

A black Cavalry sergeant goes on trial for murdering his superior and raping his daughter. Wrongly accused, he must really face a trial of racial bigotry.

    Pros: excellent story

    Cons: none

    what makes this film so good is the melding of the two basic plots in this movie. There is a murder mystery, a kind of who-dun-it, and then there is the powerful message of racial hatred. Woody Strode is excellent as Sgt. Rutledge. He is one of my fa...vorite western actors despite his relative obscurity. Read more Less

    Excellent movie in which John ford comes through with an interesting and wonderful story. There is also a touch of subtle humor that brightens the movie and it's chaharcters. I highly recommended. John Ford considered this movie one of his favorites.... Read more Less
