    Great Headphones for traveling

By Javier G  Jul 4, 2005 | 9 out of 9 found this Sennheiser PXC 250 review helpful

Pros: Substansial noise reduction, great sound.

Cons: Separate battery pack can be a fuss.

I commute every day on public transportation 2hrs with an Ipod and these headphones make the trip a whole lot more enjoyable. No set of headphones will eliminate all noice but the constant sound of train and bus is virtually eliminated with these hea...dphones. And my pod sounds great thru them too. I've traveled on a plane with these and they work great there too. The cool thing on a plane is that even if you are not listening to music if you have the headphones on and the noise cancel on then you can have a nice quiet trip and maybe even get some rest. Compared with other high end noise canceling headphones these are great for the price. Did not notice much difference between these and the BOSE I used to have that cost twice as much. Sennheiser PXC 250

The PXC 250 are basically the excellent PX 200 (see our review) with noise-canceling circuitry, providing great sound with excellent noise-canceling functionality (helpful not only when traveling but also when sitting next to a noisy computer at home). Oddly enough, whereas most noise-canceling headphones sound inferior to comparable standard models, we actually found the PXC 250 to sound a bit better than the PX 200. The only drawback is that since the PXC 250 use smaller earpads -- they fit on the ears rather than around them -- they don't block as much external sound as some of the larger models like the Bose Quiet Comfort 2. (Like the PX 200, it takes a bit of practice to get the right ""fit"" with the PXC 250.) However, considering that other noise-canceling models with similar sound quality cost as much as $300, the PXC 250 are a great value. Read more
