A handheld rendition in much the same vein as its forebears, Sega Rally Championship places players behind the wheel of one of a number of licensed vehicles -- Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VII, Subaru Impreza, Ford Focus, and Toyota Corolla -- and challenges them to race across various rally stages on courses throughout the world. The Championship mode makes up the bulk of the experience, and it's here that players will attempt to complete a series of four races across desert, village, snow and mountain terrain types in order to advance onto new, harder events and cups. Between races you'll have the opportunity to tend to your car, tweaking such settings as transmission, gear ratio, suspension, steering, brake, and tire type.

It's also in this mode where you accumulate so-called Rally Points, a form of in-game currency that can be used to unlock new tracks and vehicles as well as bonus mini-games and artwork. The Time Attack mode pits players against the clock with the singular aim of achieving as fast a time as possible. Once satisfied with their efforts, players can choose to upload their best times to the Sega Rally website via a simple password system. Alternatively, the recorded ghost data can be traded with a friend using the GBA Link Cable, effectively allowing them to try and trump your best times. The Multiplayer portion of the title, though it requires each player to own a copy of the title, allows up to four players to race against one another simultaneously. ~ All Game Guide
