Authentic worship from the heart!! Finally!!

Pros: beautiful lyrics, wonderful music, heartfelt worship at its best

Cons: none that I can think of

If you've read my other reviews, you know I'm not a big fan of Contemporary Christian Music (CCM hereafter), and even a smaller fan of the current worship trend (that is thankfully dying out). Don't get me wrong! There were some genuine ...worship CDs made (Kutless comes to mind, as well as Adie Camp), but most of the stuff put out is puffy, airy, and hollow. Chris Tomlin is an exception to this rule. See the Morning is a beautiful worship experience. The minute I turned it on I could feel my spirit singing out in worship to the Father. This album is....I'm searching for the words....just straight from the heart. All pretentions are thrown away. I have a feeling I'll be listening to this very, very, very much! Read more Less

Chris Tomlin: another GREAT worship CD

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Sep 27, 2006 | 1 out of 1 found this See the Morning review helpful

Pros: Fresh set of worship songs...sure to be used in church

    Cons: Can't think of any

Another great worship CD from Chris Tomlin with plenty of new tunes for worship teams to use in worship gatherings. "Awesome is the Lord Most High" and "Glorious" were on the Passion 06 CD. I actually prefer the Passion 06 versio...n of "Awesome is the Lord..." over the CD version. The opening song "How Can I Keep From Singing" is a great example of the lyrics and tune that Tomlin is known for. This song will stick in your head! "Let God Arise" is a great rocker! Little different for Tomlin...branching out some. This song sounds more like the Passion 06 version of "Awesome is the Lord Most High". "Everlasting God" and "Made to Worship" are catchy tunes as well. The song "Uncreated One" is incredible. Great lyrics! I am considering our worship team using this song in a service at Christmas. The CD closes out with "Amazing Grace" with a new chorus. It is in keeping with the Passion Worship Band Hymns CD...classic hymns with a few changes/additions. Great way to end the CD. Overall...Tomlin fans will really like this CD. No disappointment here. Read more Less

Pro Reviews: See the Morning

  • All Music Guide

It's quite possible that Chris Tomlin's fourth studio album is the one that firmly seals his place as the ultimate innovator in praise and worship music. His first three solo efforts (plus 2005's Live from Austin Music Hall) had effectively made his name synonymous with the subgenre that directs songs to God, not just about Him. Chris' confident, clear vocals are at their pinnacle, as is his songwriting and collaboration (his backing band does a superb job rounding out the dense sound). Producer Ed Cash returns at the controls to give the album a transparent sheen that gives it a final sense of accessibility. There are no low points; each track consistently evokes adoration. Chris tried out the first single (the contagiously buoyant "Made to Worship") and several others while touring in support of Arriving, his extremely well received effort from 2004. Surprisingly it's the midtempo numbers like "Everlasting God" and "Let Your Mercy Rain" that define the sound on See the Morning, not t...he electrifying crowd pleasers like "Let God Arise" and "Awesome Is The Lord Most High". Tomlin closes the album with a brilliantly personal arrangement of "Amazing Grace", penning a new bridge that fits as well as the timehonored poetry of the original. Like label mate and fellow Texan David Crowder, Chris injects just a hint of his downhome roots into an otherwise rockcentric sound. - Jared Johnson, All Music Guide Read more Less
