    DB-The Secret Art of Science

This is probably the best Drum-n-bass album I've ever heard. If you're into hard, unfeeling, unrelenting, dark rhythms, this one is probably not for you. But if you're into the more thought provoking, chill side of D&B, and a real lover of music, thi...s one is one DEFINATELY worth investing in. As eloquently reviewed within the CD cover itself, Jazzbo captures the essence and spirit of the album, as DB himself captures the essence and spirit of Drum-n-bass and speaks to the hearts and minds of true D&B fans and enthusiasts all over. This album is a truly beautiful work of art and a revisiting of what Drum-n-bass should aspire to be. In an era devoid of musical creativity and thought, this album is pure genius. It hasn't left my CD player in 3 weeks. Read more Less

Brit import DJ DB has been instrumental in bringing drum'n'bass to North American listeners. In The Secret Art of Science, the veteran DJ takes a look back and whips up a mix of some of the best drum'n'bass tracks of the '90s. Highlights include Photek's version of Roni Size's 1996 track "Brown Paper Bag" and Adam F's reworking of Everything but the Girl's "Before Today." Equally impressive is Rude Bwoy Monty's "Summer Sumting," which features a sweet sample of Kool the Gang's classic "Summer Madness." Although the tracks on the album span several years, DJ DB's ability to blend beats and moods creates a fluid sound that's bound to appeal to a broad spectrum of listeners. Drum'n'bass loyalists might consider DB's selection a bit pedestrian and obvious, but novice fans will find The Secret Art of Science to be a perfect introduction to a genre of music that, after a mere decade in existence at the time of this release, only seemed to be getting stronger.
