Blues guitarist and longtime Buddy Guy sideman Scott Holt was born June 26, 1966, in Lawrenceburg, TN; he did not begin learning guitar until the age of 20, but proved a quick study, seeking his earliest inspiration in the music of Jimi Hendrix and Stevie Ray Vaughan. Ultimately, Holt's chief influence was Buddy Guy, whom he first met after a show in 1987; the two collaborated infrequently in the months to follow, and in the autumn of 1989, Holt was invited to join Guy's band.
