Synopsis: School of Rock (2003)
Synopis: Fired from his band, rock guitarist and vocalist Dewey Finn (Black) takes a job as a 4th grade substitute teacher at an uptight private school where his free livin' lifestyle, attitude, music and antics soon influences the students to explore other sides of themselves the school doesn't encourage. Finn's real goal in taking the job is to recruit a 9-year-old guitar prodigy, Yuki, to become the lead guitarist in a band that would be able to win a "battle of bands", solving Finn's money problems and re-establishing him as a respected rocker.Features: School of Rock (2003)

I loved this movie! Jack Black reincarnates the spirit of John Belushi, upholds the ambitious purity of "Rocky," influences youth a la Robin Williams' in "Dead Poets Society," all the while maintaining the controlled mania of "This is Spinal Tap." Richard Linklater takes us inside a laboratory of innocent rebellion, and dissects the soul of hard rock, cleansing it with hearty performances of uniquely bold children. I allowed myself to suspend belief of logic, without feeling ripped off by cheeky Hollywood good vibrations. Black takes his performance up to "Eleven" (see Spinal Tap), as he juices up his young classroom with twitching eyebrows, shaking his jelly-belly and outrageous verbal ramblings including funky nicknames he creates for every student. A favorite scene was a montage featuring Black mapping out the varied groups and subgroups that make out the landscape of Rock History, as he wins over his young class with the stimulation they are yearning for. This movie will toast your heart and tweak your ears. It will also make you remember the power of rock and bring you back to the first time you heard Led Zep or Hendrix or Floyd, making you realize that those delicious experiences of discovery have truly left a remarkable wake, finding an authentic place in the hieroglyphics of American history. ...

Pros: Jack Black is perfect in this movie. Really funny.
Cons: Some of the kids acting is a little lame.
I saw School of Rock the first time last night. I have to tell you, the movie made me miss Rock music so much. Its been a while since Ive heard such a great soundtrack that matches the movie so perfectly.
Black gives a great perfomance as a sub teacher who teaches the values of ROCK to a bunch of ritch school kids. There is more to the plot than that of course, but that is the gist of the movie.
While watching this movie, I started to get really nastalgic, and a little angry. In this movie, Rock music is king. Black makes fun of just about every kind of lame music and poser bands out today. And I loved it. I hate todays music. It was so refreshing to see someone still knows what rock stands for. Rock is not about dressing in black with a bald head, tattoos, and a goatee. Its not about having the best backup dancers. Its about the MUSIC. This film drives that point home. I just hope some of todays kids get the message.
The audio was awesome on the DVD. When songs were playing, they filled the room. I never had to turn up the volume to hear the dialoge either.
The video was also very well done. It looked very clear and crisp.
In closing, I wish every kid under 17 would watch this film with an open mind. It is a really funny movie, with an awesome message. ...
