It's time to "make way for the bad guy" in this adaptation of Brian De Palma's 1983 film starring Al Pacino as Cuban drug dealer Tony Montana. The game picks up where the movie left off, albeit with the stunning revelation that Montana isn't dead. Montana survives the assassination attempt and vows revenge on the kingpin who nearly put him out of commission: Alejandro Sosa. Players assume the role of powerhungry Montana in his bid to reclaim his cocaine empire and extravagant lifestyle. This, of course, means resorting to graphic violence and colorful profanity as a means of "persuasion."

Montana can freely explore 1980s Miami and its surrounding islands as he tries to amass a fortune by smuggling drugs. Along the way, players must purchase fronts for laundering money, defeat rival gangs, elude capture from the DEA, and discover creative uses for a chainsaw. One notable feature is the ability to target individual body parts, with stylish moves rewarded in "balls points." As Montana flexes his machismo, he will gradually build to a blind rage, a temporary state that switches the default thirdperson view to a firstperson perspective with timeslowing effects, allowing players to inflict heavy damage.

Another key element is the lack of loading screens while visiting different areas of Miami, including such familiar haunts as Freedom Town, the Babylon Club, and Lopez Motors. As he earns respect and power, Montana can use a satellite phone to hire henchmen, request vehicles, weapons, and other tools of the drug trade. The game also features Al Pacino's likeness as Tony Montana, and several film actors have lent their voices to the project, including original cast members Robert Loggia and Steven Bauer. Screenwriter David McKenna, whose film credits include American History X and Blow, penned the game's original storyline. ~ Scott Alan Marriott, All Game Guide

    Pros: Everything

    Cons: Nothing

In an era where Scarface is held as a classic film, we never thought it would be transformed into a video game. Scarface: The World Is Yours captures the essence of the film, even if it doesn't follow the same story line. The game begins at the ...end of the film, Tony losing everything, and I mean everything. After the first mission is complete you lose around $65,000,000 and the police have custody of your mansion. You have to work your way back to the top, to rebuild your cocaine empire, and place your revenge on Sosa. Running and re-building a cocaine empire is no easy task. You have to maintain shipments, maintain money laundering, take over territories, make sure other rival gangs don't take your territory, sell drugs to the local dealers, collect your income, and overall stay alive while you do it. I haven't had this much playing a video game since the last GTA release of San Andreas. This game, which I was highly suprised about, has the same level to be compared to a Grand Theft Auto, it's just as big, just as difficult, and just as fun. The game is beautifully done, with the feeling of Miami back in the 1980's brought in perfectly. Although Tony isn't voiced by Al Pacine, you seriously can't tell the difference. Their are many vehicles, guns, items, businesses, and missions to keep you playing for hours. The graphics are done very well along with the sound and capturing parts of the film. The game is so easy to control, and the vehicles run like a charm. Aiming is perfect, which adds much more smooth gameplay and fun. The game also has lots and lots of music. Everything from music from that era, to the entire Scarface sound track, even Reggaeton artists Wisen Y Yandel. Rappers such as D-12, Pit Bull, and also G-Unit's DJ Whoo Kid. With plenty of drugs, money, sexuality, cars, and lots and lots of violence, this game will surely impress Scarface fans world wide. Running an empire is no easy task and this game proves it. To answer the question most gaming sites have asked, this is definitley worth your hard earned drug money. Definitley a must buy for all Grand Theft Auto fans and all Scarface fans. Read more Less

The graphics aren't nearly as convincing. As a whole the game looks dated, and certain sequences look awful. But the framerate never skips, and the violence is extra juicy, so at least the developers had their priorities straight. Read more
