On Saving Grace, Sixer recalls many trad punk outfits, without being derivative. The country-rockabilly twang of Social Distortion, for example, as well as the streetwise edge of Rancid, might come to mind. Like these bands, Sixer has their own groove going despite obvious influences, albeit not as interesting as Rancid or Social Distortion but still commendable. When Sixer fails to ignite along similar lines, however, a genuinely fun, excited spirit helps carry them through, making them hard to dislike. Saving Grace is overall a listenable, good-time punk album; once Sixer furthers Saving Grace's evident songwriting promise, and fuses it with their identifiable sound, the results should ring loud.
