Pro Reviews: Saturday Morning Confusion
| EXPERT RATING: From AMG Reviews Songwriter Bobby Russell scored a few hits as a recording artist but never became as well known as the famous songs he wrote, which include "The Night the Lights Went Out in Georgia" and "Little Green Apples." "Saturday Morning Confusion," a wryly humorous song about a man coping with a hangover in a bustling household, was his biggest hit as a performer, reaching the Top 40 on the country and pop charts in 1971. Not surprisingly, the album Saturday Morning Confusion focuses on Russell's own songs, only a couple of which share the title track's sense of humor. Russell has an averageguy voice similar to Ricky Nelson's, for which he tries to compensate by doubling up his vocal linesnot to add harmonies, but to increase his presence by singing in unison with himself. The style of the serious cuts, like "It Hurts" and "Little Boy Tears," is comparable to Bobby Goldsboro, who enjoyed a big hit with Russell's "Honey." Toward the end of the album Russell turns to outside songwriters and covers "Confidential," a 1956 hit for Sonny Knight which recycles the tune of "These Foolish Things." Russell had ample of success as a songwriter, but Saturday Morning Confusion was the closest he came to breaking through as a singer. - Greg Adams, All Music Guide |

Cons: few cons except it does knock brothers- in - Laws!?
A funny song everyone can identify with a bit .
