The Athenians placed the dome over breads and other foods to be baked, surrounding it with hot embers to create an even heat. The heat supplied by the Sassafras La Cloche Bread Baker works the same way. It utilizes the steam generated by the moist dough within the bell, resulting in a delicious bread with a crackly, golden crust and light cumb.
