Though she made her first film in 1917, Mexican actress Sara Garcia's most active cinematic years were 1936 through 1957. In the early '40s, she starred in a popular series of family comedy-dramas, cast as Grandma Luisa Garcia. She played so many warm, matriarchal roles that she earned the affectionate soubriquet "The Grandmother of the Mexican Cinema."
