    I'm glad The Clash make this album.They experiment and do not care about "trend"and mode. Punk, rock, op, reggae, all these words can be something to stop the evolution.To see a bands go in studio and experimentlike that, it's fascnianting. And if yo...u listent carefully, you will relaise they are in advance. White pople who make rap music or funk. The World beat trend, the fascination for the music of the world. And the exploration of the roots of the populare whitemusic. This album are all this and more.... Read more Less

    God, listening to the Clash for many a year, this is no doubt BETTER than London Calling. This really allows the experimental side of Strummer, Jones, Headon and the other one (opps Sorry) to exploit their moods and felings that have influenced them ...for many a year.Don't listen to this as the Clash - '77 but the Clash as they feel.     How can a band that come up with the brilliance of the 'London Calling' album record such rubbish?Seriously, I'm a massive Clash fan and have all their albums, but this is just poor. There are very few songs that show anywhere near the brilliance tha...t was shown on the previous LP. Only The Magnificant Seven can be salvaged from this.I'd recommend that those new to the Clash avoid this at all costs and plump for 'The Clash', 'London Calling' or the fantastic 'From Here to Eternity' live album.     What A Great Album

    Maybe the most underrated band of all time? Probably the most unheralded? Did they ever reach Mega-Superstar status? I don't think so! Not in this country. Not anywhere near the status given to a number of their English breathren. That's a shame! See...ms as if you lump the term "punk" in with a band their destined to be the bridesmaid and never the bride. Think about that? Think about all the great stereotypical "punk' bands you love, and how misunderstood their perception is to the "multitude of sheeps" roaming our world . This is the one band that legitimately crossed over to that world. Doing so on their own merit, and they are given precious little respect. Anyway, enough of my soapbox preaching. I read in one of these critiques a comparison with this album and the Beatles White album. I full-heartedly agree. This is The Clash spreading their wings. It's magnificent. Read more Less

    One Of The Most Interesting Albums Ever

    At first it may be hard to warm up to this album. Its Not like the first album, Give Em Enough Rope, London Calling, or Combat Rock. It is unique. Has some amazing lyrical work and has the most politics of any of The Clash's works. At first i didnt l...ike it but now its something i listen to all the time. I own it on Lp, CD, and Tape.     Here there's material for a half-dozen excellent albums. A wide range of different and funny arrangement. My picks: "Police on my back", "Something about England", "Charlie don't surf", "Whashington Bullets", "Loose this skin".Listen to the childish... version of "Carrer opportunities" (from their 1st LP).
