    Great Buy

By Rod  Dec 16, 2005 | 19 out of 22 found this SanDisk Sansa m230 review helpful

Pros: Cheap, but all the features

    Cons: None

Bought mine for 64 bucks at Circuit City. Has all the features of a 130 buck MP3 player. Was looking for the iPOD or Creative as everyone else does. Those were sold out, however these were easily available. Nobody has heard of them and they are lower... priced so Something must be wrong with them right? Wrong! Easy to use, great quality product. I am so glad I did not drink the iPod kool-aid. I saved enough money to then purchase a 49 dollars PC stereo system w/ 80 watts that sounds like it cost 300 dollars. Great addition when your at home and want to share your music with friends. THX certified speakers for 50 bucks are you kidding me? PC speakers are always a great value and with the SanDisk, it's honestly the best 110 bucks I ever spent. Read more Less

    Sandisk m230

By Derrick  Feb 24, 2006 | 10 out of 11 found this SanDisk Sansa m230 review helpful

Pros: Affordability, Equalizer, FM Radio, Sound Quality, Stopwatch, Firmware Updates, Backlit Screen (nice blue), Uses non-proprietary batteries, etc...

Cons: Back light stops working when battery is 3/4 empty, but really not a big deal

I did a lot of research on this product before purchasing. I have several Sandisk Compact Flash Cards that work great, so I knew the quality was good from the company already, so I gave them a try. Bottom Line about the M230 (M200 series): The unit... is very user friendly and works great. Some positive notes about it are: Affordability, Equalizer, FM Radio (20 Pre-sets), Sound Quality, Firmware Updates, Backlit Screen (nice blue), Uses non-proprietary batteries (big plus in my book), comes with a protective case and arm strap that works. Others have stated the arm band is not any good, but I disaggree totally. I use my unit at the gym several times a week and running on the tread machine, it stays put and never skips a beat (literally). I've never used the recorder, but it is good to have as a memo option if needed on the go. Being I go to the gym regularly, the stopwatch is very handy to have also. The equalizer settings (Rock, Jazz, Classical and Pop) are good right out the box. The unit also gives you the option to manually set the sound which is what I use and improves on the already great sound that the preset equalizer gives. One of the things that really sold me on this unit was that you aren't limited to just one computer to load and delete songs with the unit. I can use any computer with a USB plug (1.1 and 2.0) and add new songs and then instantly play them unlike Apple products which must have the same computer to be able to play them. Another key feature is that it uses a single AAA battery and not a proprietary type or worse an internal type which can't be replaced easily or cheaply. When your internal or proprietary battery runs out of power, that's it. You can't run to the local drugstore and buy some AAA batteries to continue use. The proprietary type must be recharged before reused. I use 900 mA rechargeable AAA batteries. The battery life is about 24-30 hours of continuous operation which is great. A regular Akaline battery in this unily last for 15-19 hours. The only minor issue is that the back light stops operating when the battery reaches 3/4 empty which is really understandable being it takes a lot of power to run a backlit screen. The IPOD Shuffle doesn't even have a screen nor many other features the M230 has. This was a great buy. Read more Less

    Sansa m230 warning!

By Bruce  Jan 2, 2006 | 9 out of 10 found this SanDisk Sansa m230 review helpful

Pros: Great price, size, fm tuner

Cons: cannot delete mp3 files from device, NO support

This unit provides good sound. Problem is I dragged and dropped some mp3 files to the unit as described in the manual and now the unit shows and plays the files in the device but I cannot "see" them once connected via USB, either thru windo...ws explorer or WMP. I can use WMP to download new files and delete those, but the original mp3's are stuck (forever)? Tech support has not responded in over 2 weeks. Terrible website for support. I do not recommend buying this device. Read more Less

Pros: Cheap, Long battery life, small, quick and easy transfers

Cons: does not hold too much music

For those of you that are interested in an MP3 player, but are not interested in spending too much money, look no further. I got mine for $45 (Black friday price though) but have seen it at $80 since then. It is cheaper than the Ipod shuffle, but a w...hole lot better. You can seperate the music by genre, artist or favorites. Plus, it gets FM stations. What I love is that it comes with the armband attachment, which would cost extra if you were to buy a shuffle. Overall, I am very happy with this product and would reccomend it to anyone. Read more Less

Pros: small, portable, easy to transfer songs

    Cons: memory space, battery life

This MP3 is pretty easy to use. It has a voice recorder and microphone to record anything and transferring songs on the computer is very easy. It also has sleep features, FM radio, and auto power off. Overall, I'm very satisfied with it.

    Pros: Small,Feature Packed

Cons: Don't know what to do with the money saved...

Had done research on MP3 for a couple of months. Asked and received as a gift. This is one of the best electronics items I have ever received. This is my 1st MP3 player and I made the perfect request with this one. Just wish I had gotten the 1GB vers...ion because once you have it you can't live without it. Read more Less

    By bette  Apr 26, 2007

    Pros: none

    Cons: can't figure it out

I bought my daughter this mp3 player for her 12th birthday. The instructions says to use the accompanying CD to set up the player. there wasn't a CD in the packaging, as a matter of fact the packaging was too small to even fit a CD. My oldest dau...ghter went to the website and it says that you don't need the CD but we can't figure the darn thing out. My 12 year old now wants an iPod and wishes she could bury the mP3 player. if someone can help, I would be forever greatful. Read more Less
