    Sansa e280 vs. e280R

By Sam The Man  Dec 9, 2006 | 20 out of 23 found this SanDisk Sansa e280 review helpful

    Pros: Features, Sound and Price

Cons: Differences in user interface and some glitches

I got the chance to test out both the Sansa e280 and the Sansa e280R (Best Buy version) w/Rhapsody. Here is what some comparisons and differences. First off, they look the same on the outside. The only difference is some branding on the back. Bot...h come with the same accessaries in the box. The e280 comes with setup disk v. 1.3 and the e280R comes with setup disk 1.0 (Best Buy version though). Features on it are almost the same except the e280R comes with Rhapsody Channels. Apon looking through the menu did notice that the GUI on the e280 isn't as crisp at the e280R which was alittle disappointing. I am surprised that both don't have clean text on them because everything else (like the icons) looks clean cut. Sound is a biggie and by far on both they are good. I do notice on both players that there is a very low player noise when navagating through the menu or going from track to track. The e280 comes with preset EQ's and a custom EQ feature. The e280R has the same preset EQ's but no custom EQ feature unfortunately. So far there have not been any problems with battery life drainage (18 hrs or so for me)or transfering music files to the players (which has been simple) or really any major issues at all that tells me my purchase of The Sandisk Sansa e280 or e280R was a bad one. I recommend this over the iPod for a few reasons but I know it's hard to sway people from the ever so popular player that everyone "must" have. Only differences I see price wise right now during or not during the holiday season is that you can get a e280 online for around $200 but because the e280R is exclusively only at Best Buy the average price right now is $250 but I'd be surprised if they lowered it to $200 and if they do, BUY IT there because that's a heck of a deal for this type of mp3 player! -Sami- Read more Less

    Awesome MP3 Player

    By ~*~Dani~*~  Jul 16, 2007 | 7 out of 8 found this SanDisk Sansa e280 review helpful

    Pros: Long Battery Life

    Cons: Doesn't Hold Enough Music

I bought one of these about 3 months ago. I was looking locally and having a hard time finding an mp3 player that wasn't going to cost a fortune. I love how long the battery life is on this and how fast it recharges either from your computer or ...car charger. This mp3 player is also very easy to use and navigate around. One great feature is having FM Radio built into this. You can save your fav stations and go to them when you want a break from your music. Tech support is also very helpful if you happen to think you messed up your player, they can fix you up in a few mins of your time. Overall if your looking for a good mp3 player thats going to stand the test of time, I'd get one of these. Read more Less

    Pros: battery life, features, appeal

    Cons: no support for refurbs

The required software does not come with the refurbished models! If you buy a refurb, you should know: The word REFURB is cast in metal on the back cover plate. You will have to download and print your owner's manual. It has some good instructi...ons you have to have. You have to have Windows Media Player 11 to operate. You have to download Arcsoft Media Converter for Sansa. -to load pics or video to your sansa. I still can't rip a cd to my device. but it may be a problem with my pc settings. It is very picky about audio file formats, though. mp3's are fine, any other file format may not work. The player itself works really well though. I bought 2 of them, one for my fiance. Battery life is really good so far. The fm radio feature is really cool and works well. more features and lower price than Ipod nano, but without the support and itunes. (itunes won't work with sansa) Read more Less

Pros: Overall great, good price, slim and shiny look, better than nano, stirdy feeling.

    Cons: No playlists

I love this mp3 it's so cool. It is way better than the nano because the scroller doesn't wear out as easily. I would highly reccomend it. It never froze on me or did anything bad and i've had it for a year and a half. Overall great, BUY ...IT!!!! Read more Less

    Don't Like this MP3 Player

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Apr 30, 2008 | 1 out of 2 found this SanDisk Sansa e280 review helpful

    Pros: Not many....

    Cons: Everything!

I got this mp3 player when my Creative Zen mp3 (which was fabulous) player stopped working. The minute I opened the box, I could tell I didn't like this mp3 player nearly as much. It feels very flimsy, and the wheel can be hard to turn at times. ...Also, the sound doesn't go very loud; most other mp3 players I've seen are at least 30% louder than this one. The one thing that I liked about it when I read descriptions was that it held video, however the mp3 player and my computer don't format together for video so this feature is completely useless to me!! Overall, the price of the mp3 player is completely ludicrous for the mediocre quality that it provides, and I would not recommend this mp3 player. Read more Less

    Sansa e280

By Zoo  Nov 19, 2007 | 1 out of 2 found this SanDisk Sansa e280 review helpful

Pros: cool features, such as radio and recording

    Cons: horrible software/transferring system

The sansa e280 is a great mp3 player. I really liked the free music trial, and all of the features that ipods don't include, such as radio, recording, and how you can add songs to your playlist from your mp3 player (with a subscription). However..., tranferring music wasa horrible proccess. I only managed to get it "connected" with the software twice, and it was very slow. So in the end I returned it, because I could never be sure when it would work on my computer next. :P Read more Less

    Pretty Sweet :] :]

    By AnnyJ  Dec 1, 2008

Pros: Price, features an sound are all pretty good

Cons: Its hard to find speakers that are good and don't cost too much.

This is a pretty good mp3 player. It has a FM radio built in, unlike the Ipod. There aren't that many colors that you can choose from (that I could find). Anyways I thought it was pretty good for the price that its at. :] This makes a great Chris...tmas gift! Read more Less
