Pros: Small, easy to use, intuitive

Cons: Had to reload it's firmware twice, but that was my fault.

I bought this for work and to load podcasts on the night prior. It works really well and I have no complaints. One review comments about the volume resetting. That's a feature designed to protect your ears. You set a default volume as the h...ighest volume it allows when turned on. If you turn it off lower than that volume, it keeps the old volume. Turn it off higher than that volume and it lowers itself to a default. Read the manual -- it's amazing what you can learn. You will need Vista or Win Media 10 to use it. It contains drivers REQUIRED to run this device. You can use other programs to load the thing, but you need to install Win Media 10 . I had problems twice and that was related to the firmware. If it dies, you may need to reload the firmware (which is on Samsungs website). Do that and all is good. Not a big deal. It died because I tried to sync up with my computer at work and my office has that machine so locked down that it caused problems. I wouldn't buy this if you plan on using like a USB drive all the time -- it'll work, but it's better suited as a media player. You can't listen to it while it's plugged into the USB port. I'd like to see that changed, but it's not a reason to pass on it. Easy to read, good button lay-out, feels well-built, FM tuner built in, random (shuffle) play mode, repeat and repeat loops, supports playlists, genre/artist/album/track selection, great sound, user definable EQ, bass enhancement, stereo enhancement, auto-off if you pause (adjusted from No Auto-off during pause to 3 minutes auto-off during pause), voice recorder, comes with decent earbuds, good battery life (I listen around 10 to 12 on the volume 6 to 8 hours and it doesn't even register a loss on the battery indicator.) It's hard to beat for the price. I wouldn't write it off based on the top negative reviews posted here. If you read the manual, you'll learn it does everything the others say it won't do. Recommended if you need a small audio media player. Read more Less

    Pros: Battery Life, Sound Quality.

Cons: Memory, Recording Quality, Ease of Use, Stopped Working After a Few Months

Overall I thought this product was ok. If you dont listen to a lot of music this product may be ok for you. The battery life was very good for me. Sound Quailty was nice. But after a couple of months it started messing up bad. The computer wouldnt ev...en detect the device. I think this was because of something invovling firmware but even after i updated the firmware it still didnt work. And at the time I got it, it was around $100, which in my opinion is not worth it at all. Read more Less

    Pros: good Sound quality

    Cons: compatibility

Short battery life/need usb port to recharge. Not good when you run out in the mountains. Not a computer behind every tree!

Over priced and you can definitely find a better more practicle value.

    Pros: works, more or less

Cons: extremely poor design, shoddy construction

I have nothing good to say about this one. It has many design flaws which I think the engineers could have avoided with even a little thought. [1] You can't recharge it without Windows XP SP2, so it won't charge from your car's cigarette... lighter or a wall outlet adapter. This makes it useless to take on a trip, unless you lug a computer along also. [2] If you leave it plugged into your computer and turn the computer off, it will lose its charge. [3] If you leave it plugged in and turn the computer on, it makes the computer hang until you pull it out (this might be just my computer, but I haven't seen this with any other USB accessories). [4] It plays the songs in alphabetical (filename) order rather than track number order. For many albums this is the same, but not necessarily, especially with mix albums or audiobooks from Librivox. [5] It doesn't remember what volume I had it set to if I turn it off. [6] It can't pause for more than a few seconds without turning itself off (and forgetting the volume setting). [7] Crappy service. When I call the company to discuss these issues, they tell me, "It's the firmware," as if that's an answer. Well of COURSE it's the firmware. Please FIX the firmware! I returned mine to the store before it had a chance to actually break, but it feels very light, the controls are loose, and you have to press the buttons hard. I don't think it is built to last. By contrast, I am very happy with my SanDisk player which is in the same price range and includes FM radio. Read more Less
