Picture quality an issue
Pros: Easy to set up
Cons: Poor picture quality with NTSC source
We got this TV because it looked great in the store with an HD source. It does play great if the signal source is HD. Like many people, we have a great deal of material (personal family movies, DVDs, etc.) that are not HD but rather good old fashion NTSC. When you play NTSC into this TV it looks absolutely terrible. Everything comes out as blocky pixels. We have another HD TV by Sylvania and the NTSC material plays just fine there. The same material looks terrible on this TV. Don't get this TV if unless you only intend on looking at HD material and nothing else. The NTSC material was fed into this TV using the analog component video inputs. The company put a lot of effort into the HDMI inputs but they apparently didn't want to spend money on the component video inputs because they didn't anticipate anybody using these with anything other than an HD signal source.

In general, I like the TV. I do, however, have an issue with the sound. Another review from Becky remarks about the a whining noise. It is not related to an individual TV, it is related to, at the least, this model. We can not get ride of the noise and because we did a purchase on-line, it is difficult to have it looked at. The TV has to be sent back and who keeps the boxes? Samsung should be know the people who have purchased this model and send a letter telling us how to fix the problem or send someone to fix these issues.

At first glance, and for the first month or so, this TV was great. It was easy to set up - my instruction-phobe husband had no trouble at all - and has a great picture. After a month, I started noticing a whining noise coming from the TV after it had been on 1/2 hour. This noise persisted even when I muted the sound. After a couple days of enduring the noise (and resulting headaches), we decided to take it back to the store where we bought it. Thank goodness for extended warranties. They replaced the TV no problems and that night we were up and running with the new one. All was well till a few days ago when the whine returned. This TV will be going back again today. Hopefully we just got a couple bad sound cards or something.
