Pros: Lots of features but simple if you want it to be

Cons: Poor zoom, bad placement of the lens

I just wanted a cheapy snapshot camera and bought this on the spur of the moment as I was getting on the plane for a holiday. It is actually a really nice camera. It has lots and lots of features that I don't even know how to use and probably wil...l never use, but works very well as a snapshot camera. Its nice tiny size makes it perfect for carrying around in your purse or backpack and it comes with a nice little case. It's light but not too light as to feel cheap. I did buy extra memory sticks and they hold a lot of pictures. The batteries died quicker than I expected but I think it was because they were the batteries that came in the box. The new ones seem to be lasting longer. The LCD screen is quite good enough to scroll through pictures and show other people and the quality of the pictures is great, and you can select what quality you want them to be out of five different levels. It also comes with cables and software for putting pix on the computer or showing them on a TV. It was nice to show my pictures on the TV. Unfortunately I could not get them to work on the computer, but the camera does come with a warranty and I have a service center near me that will do the repairs. That should not discourage you from getting the camera. The only bad things are the zoom is really crap but if you're only going to use it for snapshots, you don't really need the zoom. Also the lens is in the lower left corner of the camera, in the perfect spot to put your hand when you hold the camera, and I've got a lot of pictures with part of my finger in them. Anyway, altogether the camera is very nice and good value for money. Read more Less

    A great bargain

Pros: Cheap, lots of features, movies w/ audio

    Cons: Needs a lens cover

A must buy for travelers. Easy to carry, loaded with features and a decent lcd screen. Video out is my favorite since it lets me show the pictures on TV. $118 from Walmart, really a great value for this snap & shoot camera.

    It Works!

    By Kathy W  Feb 28, 2005

Pros: Size, Ease of Use, Changeable Settings

Cons: No Lens changes (polarizing, zoom, etc), Poor quality on Zoom

Small piece of equipment, but big enough to open up a whole new world if you're a first time digital owner. Some of things that improved its performance for me are: 1. If using Zoom, watch for pixelation in the monitor, then go back down by .1 - ...try to avoid using Zoom, period. 2. Set on SuperFine quality. You lose quantity (from 230+ down to 111 pictures.) Trust me -it's worth doing! 3. The depth of view in the monitor is deceptive (You just think you're close to that huge bridge! No, you aren't!) Trick - wait until you are right there. 4. Buy a good name-brand battery charger (I wasted money on the first two), and get an extra set of their batteries. DO NOT (repeat - DO NOT) try to use the throw-away kind. Expect to have the batteries wear out in 30-40 shots. 5. This model has the option to shut down the monitor in 2 levels (the second one leaves just the viewfinder active.) This extends the battery life immensely. Unless you are using the zoom or want to preview every single picture as you take it, you can get by nicely with just the viewfinder. It's actually more accurate when trying to determine how close and big the subject will be. It also helps to square the horizontal line by using the outside border for a guide. The Con will always remain that more pixels are needed for high quality pictures (competitions, printing), but this is great value for the money - appropriate for any age (school children through tech-phobic seniors.)
