    Pros: Built-in Dolby True HD & DTS HD Master Audio decoding, ethernet for software upgrades

    Cons: Still built like a budget machine but what else would you expect

    Very good picture quality, easy to use, and extensive features. I was very surprised at the quality of sound via 5.1 analog output and especially built-in decoding of Dolby True HD & DTS HD Master Audio, which is actually contrary to website and prof...essional reviewers. It may be because I purchased it on 12/24/07 and has newer software than is currently available for download (as of 1/6/08). Also I'm very pleased with customer support which has informed me of a new software download available this week, & they are hinting at BD Profile 1.1 support but would not confirm on this download.     Pros: Price, features, picture

    Cons: Slow loading DVD's, limited Blu-ray play, lack of Samsung Technical Support

    At first look the price and features make this unit very attactive dispite the many negative reviews. I realize that many do not actually read and follow firmware update instructions which is what I thought might be the cause of some of the unfavorab...le reviews. I immediately learned that this unit is of very poor quality. It is extremely slow in loading both regular and Blu-ray DVD's. The unit is even slow in simply powering up. Firmware updates over a LAN can take over an hour. Update via the CD burning procedures are significantly faster, probably only takes 20 minutes. The most disappointing thing about this unit is its inability to properly play blu-ray DVD's. The unit plays regular DVD's just fine, no problems at all. When playing Blu-ray DVD's the picture looks good and the sound is great but the unit will not play an entire movie without skiping, pausing, the screen going blank, sount skipping out, etc. This does not happen an any particular or at the same point on the DVD. I turned the unit off and back on and it played a bit further before the described symptons began again. On some dvd's it started before it originally occurred before. I tried 3 different blu-ray movies and experienced the same problems on all 3. I contacted Samsung technical support and was told they were aware of a problem with new releases and that they fix the problem in a firmware update. They could not tell me when the update. Not all 3 of my movies were new releases and Samsung could not explain why I was having problems but still insisted that the next firmware update would fix the problem. I don't buy that. Needless to say, I am pursuing returning this unit for a refund. I have only had it for 2 weeks and I am very unsatisfied with it. I also have a Toshiba A-3 HD-DVD player I received for Christmas and it plays great. Read more Less

    Solid Blu-Ray player

    Pros: ease of use, cost, great picture, good DVD upconverter

    Cons: BR discs load kinda slow

    Great entry level player. Have had mine for almost a year and have had no problems with it. When I picked up new movies, I needed to update the firm ware. I just hooked it up to the internet via the built in ethernet port, and the machine did the res...t. It only took about 10 minuets. The machine puts out great sound and a great picture. Compared to some other machines out there, it does it all for a realitivly low price. Read more Less

    Pros: it looks pretty

    Cons: it does not load brand new dvds, slow slow... waist of moneyyyyy

    oh my god.... i thought this was gonna be good.. but nope... it worked good at first but then it started to take forever to load the movies..... after 2 weeks it now wont load... i have my receipt... im taking it back and will just buy a sony one ins...tead... i was disappointed because i am a fan of sumsung,,, you dont know the frustration this dvd player put me through... it was irritating.. dont buy... if you do get warranty on it ... seriously...     Locked up after 2 blu rays were watched

    Cons: Broke almost immediately

    I watched 2 blu rays and it locked up and I had to pay for the blu ray that I rented that I was not able to get out of it. I will be getting another brand even though my LCD TV is Samsung.
