    Sacrament Rocks

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Sep 25, 2006

    Pros: Heartfelt lyrics and delivery

Cons: not for the casual listner

Lamb Of God's latest effort Sacrement is a hard driving opius that Lamb of God put their whole livelyhoods into making. That is evident by the DVD packaged in the Limited Edition. but the driving drums and the artistry in the screaming lyrics is ...not to be overlooked while banging your head to some of the hardest beats LOG ever recorded. it's a must own for any heavy metal or hard rock fan. Who Says Virginians Only Know Country?

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Aug 22, 2006

Pros: LOG has taken the sound that made them famous and built storngly on it by branching out.

Cons: The DVD on the extended version isn't entirely worth the extra money.

Most people do not associate a palce like Richmond, Virginia with loud, angry aggressive rock music. Most people think more about country music, farm machinery and the like. But now that the band has released its 4th record (5th for those who remembe...r them as Burn The Priest), the metal machine that is Lamb of God may very well get more people to change their views of the former confederate capital. With their newest release, the band has taken the sound that made them famous and have truly begun to expand a little. The lead single, "Redneck" sees singer Randall Blythe actually doing something similar to singing. And the album opener, "Walk With Me In Hell" sees the band using keyboards to create a sound that is actually somewhat similar to Dimmu Borgir. Producer Machine, who helmed the band's previous release, has helped the band hone their sound even more and put out a release that will definitely impress new and long time fans. It is the best metal record of the year. Read more Less

Pro Reviews: Sacrament

  • All Music Guide

Virginia metalcore kings Lamb of God get personal on the blistering Sacrament, an 11track onslaught of machine gun riffs and larynxshredding vocals filtered through an immaculately mappedout rhythm section that owes as much to progressive rock as it does traditional heavy metal. Producer Machine, who helped craft 2004's Ashes of the Wake into one of the best metal records of the year, has returned, tightening his wrench and experimenting on Randy Blythe's voice like a fevermad scientist. Longtime fans will no doubt debate the virtues of Sacrament's commercial bullet, the scathing White ZombiemeetsMegadeth single "Redneck," but the rest of the album is as brutal as anything they've ever done. Melodic opener "Walk with Me in Hell" culls inspiration from Piece of Mindera Iron Maiden, "Pathetic" wraps itself around a sinewy lead that sounds like a snake swallowing dinner, and "Blacken the Cursed Sun," easily one of the best metal songs of 2006, shows further evidence of the band's potentia...l to become the American version of Opeth. If Sacrament suffer from anything, it's a pounding sense of sameness. They rarely stray from the "Drop D" tuning, resulting in a second half that tends to blur, shake, and sputter out a bit, but there's no denying Lamb of God's almost unnerving power to conjure wind from the tiniest of stereo speakers. - James Christopher Monger, All Music Guide Read more Less

Lamb of God

Originally known by the less-than-subtle moniker Burn the Priest, Richmond, VA-based Lamb of God decided to change their name shortly after the release of a self-titled debut in 1998. Featuring vocalist Randy Blythe, guitarists Mark Morton and Will Adler, bassist John Campbell, and drummer Chris Adler, the newly rechristened Lamb of God was launched in the year 2000 wit... Read more
