    Although the package it came in and a sticker on the case says V92 it is not and the promised firmware update is nowhere in sight. This modem requires several tries to connect and tends to connect at differing speeds. It also will cause my system to ...reboot for no apparent reason. Others posting on Usenet report similar symptoms with this modem. I have tried various init strings with no real change in it's behaviour. Keep shopping...forget this one!! Read more Less

    The standard, for bad modems

    AVOID THIS MODEM. I used this modem and always wondered why my system kept rebooting, until I read reviews on this modem. This is a "winmodem" which means that there is no internal processor. You will not ever be able to use this modem w...ith any other operating system like Linux. Get one with an internal processor. Avoid softmodems. Read more Less
