Here is a nice cool movie pre-Ocean's Eleven and pre-The Score, where Ed Norton is again killing with his performance. The essence and importance of this film is that it is the commerical for all poker players in the game, not for players but for the game itself. This is the movie that got me interested and eventually love the swings of No-Limit Texas Hold'em, so if you play cards, you must be what Rounders call the "sucker" if you haven't seen this movie yet..... and hey DON'T SPLASH THE POT!!!

A suprisingly good film. If you took away Malkcovich and his appalling portrayal of a tracksuit wearing Russian bad ass, the film could be a damn classic. I love gambling movies, and this one is up there with one of the best. Damon and Norton are excellent, the cinematography captures the grit and the feel of the subject exceptionaly well and I would bet a fiver that you would enjoy it.

I believe this is one of the most grossly underrated films I can remember. Though the cards and the script are what make the movie fun, Martin Landau's character sums the deeper point of the film up: We cannot run from who we are.
...one of those perfect movies to buy because of sheer rewatchability (should be a real word).

Excellent movie! Great acting, great plot, and great scenes. If you like cards you have to see this movie, and if you don't play cards, watch it and you will start. This movie will make you wonder why you work hard all day when you could do what they do and make a lot more money.

This one of the five greatest movies of all time;the others are Goodfellas,Titanic,Americ
an History X, Godfather Part 2. This ranks third among them. This movie grabs you in in the very begining. You will love Norton's role of a degenerate who can not leave the thrill of gambling. Matt Damon is absolutely wonderful. You will have spent your money and time wisely.

great plot. norton exelent role as worm and damon playing the whipped (at first) ex-card player as he called himself. both norton and damon can play any role but (other than damon in courage under fire) this is their best so far

Edward Norton is the best actor out there; and he shows it in this flick.
The rest of the actors do a great job too; and there is enough plot to tie the performances together.

This movie is an example of top-notch acting from top-notch actors. Norton's role as Worm is so memorable that I routinely quote his lines. Malkovich shows his true range in this one as TeddyKGB, a well-connected Russian mafia member. Damon's performance is also excellent. I love this movie!!
