The album ranges from the carefree, upbeat title track to the more reflective "In My Mother's House"; it is faultless.
My personal favourites are "Heart Of Hearts", "In My Mother's House" and "Look Away".
"Heart Of Hearts" has some unusual lyric concepts, with turtles falling from the Louisiana skies serving as an allegory for any event that causes us to question our beliefs. But ultimately, this is a song of positive deep-down belief, which is reinforced by the uptempo melody.
"In My Mother's House", on the other hand, is a slow, simple painting: the picture is not just of the photographs, 45s and the clock in the hall, but of the relationship between mother and daughter.
I'm still undecided whether the fire-razed mansion of "Look Away" is an intended metaphor; however, it serves this purpose in a song instilled with the idea of looking only for the good in anything and looking away from anything else. Whatever way you choose to interpret the lyric, this is a beautiful piano ballad.
As with Ms Campbell's other work, a lack of airplay will deny many the chance to hear her exquisite voice. Make sure that you're not amongst the majority who are missing out. ...
