    The Pleasure 'Room'

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Apr 23, 2002 | 1 out of 1 found this Room 112 review helpful

112 truly redeems themselves with this solid sophomore effort following their drab debut. ROOM 112 starts off unpromisingly enough, which made me skeptical as if 112 would blossom beyond the painfully boring beginning interludes, and flightless first... official track "Be With You." Very close to lunging for the STOP button, immediately I started to shake my thang to the exciting "Love Me" featuring buttery Ma$e raps. Then proceeding was the edgier and more gamely "The Only One" featuring Lil'Kim at her cleanest. Then my feelings were sullen a bit after my ears were forced to be fed another crappy interlude. But then, starting with the delictable "Anywhere," was when the album starting to take flight. Following that is the album's best tracks ever recorded by an R&B male group, the tear-jerker "Love You Like I Did." The rest of the album just became an undeniable delight, featuring other winning guest performances by Faith Evans and MJG. The album's haunting nocturnal mood makes this a pleasurable album to cuddle by the fire to, along with some breath-taking, gospel-tinged tracks making the album an even bigger delight without becoming too obvious or too syrupy. 112 sing some sweet music from start...I mean, middle to finish, and makes this CD an unlikely and surprising winner when I thought it wouldn't be. DON'T PASS UP THIS ALBUM!!!!!!

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Oct 18, 2001 | 1 out of 1 found this Room 112 review helpful

112 is at the top of their game. This album has not been given as much credit as it deserves. This is a CD you put in and play from beginning to end, not skipping any songs. Go out and buy it, tell a friend about it, and be suprised at what Slim, Mik...e, Q and my soon to be baby's daddy Daron are capable of. QC Read more Less

112, Puff Daddy's fourman crew of smoothcrooning RB loverboys, come on sticky and earnest throughout their second album, Room 112, combining oldschool doo wop harmonies with '90s hiphop trappings. Because this is a Puffy project, an occasional heavyhanded sample creeps in for a visit (e.g., the use of Shawn Colvin's "Sunny Came Home" during one tune). The best cut here is "Love Me," a bit of new jack breakdown that swings and hammers with convincing verve and groove.

Biography

112

Equally rooted in gospel, soul and hip-hop, 112 was the first and most successful urban vocal group to emerge from Sean "Puffy" Combs' Bad Boy Records roster. Not only was the group's eponymous 1996 debut popular, but the group could be heard on records by such Bad Boy artists as Puff Daddy. Unlike most artists on Bad Boy, 112's image was clean, pure and wholesome, whic... Read more
