As evidenced by the eponymous title, this release for the Game Boy Color is endorsed by international superstar Ronaldo, the native Brazilian phenomenon considered by many soccer aficionados to be the greatest player of his time. In the spirit of his country and the rich history of its team, Ronaldo V-Soccer features a Samba soundtrack and colorful graphics designed to acknowledge the distinct Brazilian passion for soccer. The aerobatic moves of the players and victory celebrations when a goal is scored are inspired by Brazil's unique love of the sport.

The game is played horizontally across the screen with the goals on the left and right ends. The game's simulation mode features representations of over 100 different real life teams, while the arcade mode offers an action-oriented style of play in which the nameless players all have similar skills and abilities. In addition to controlling the actions of the players on the field, the gamer must also coordinate substitutions and formations to attack the opposition with the best strategy.
