This is how a documentary should be made

Users found this Roger & Me review helpful When I attended the premiere screening of Roger & Me at the Sundance Film Festival several years ago, things were already abuzz and it was making headlines in movie tomes, newspapers and what not about this unconventional unknown teddy bear of a guy from Flint, Michigan named Michael Moore who did nothing but dog and shadow Roger Smith in the pretense of getting a personal audience with the GM Chairman. It was a daring and cynical poke at a capitalistic system that can, with smugness and phony piety, turn out and lay off 30,000 blue collar workers for the sheer purpose of profit. But, rather than giving way to the easy way of anger and resentment, Michael Moore retorts with a beautiful and entertaining masterpiece, a splendid piece of work rich in humor and pathos, that should be viewed by anyone whose social conscience is riled by what so many go after as the ideal "American Dream", which is work hard, the company makes money - and you lose your job. If I had more than 2 thumbs, they would all go way up for this thought-provoking film. ... -

Users found this Roger & Me review helpful Humor is always an excellent vehicle to educate those that are uninformed. Moore does this in high fashion and really exposes corporate greed for what it is. This is a must see, as it is part of recent history. It teaches the economics and harsh realities of a massive layoff of workers. It also teaches the consequences of a community relying on a single source of employment. I showed this film to students when I was teaching economics.
I do not agree with Moore's politics. On that note he is an idiot. But as a filmaker exposing corporate greed, I think we can all agree we are all on the same page. A must see ...
