Pros: Typical italian attitude
Cons: plot is quite simple but interesting to watch
although this movie was almost named after the great Rocky Marciano, during his time in his career was the only white boxer and undefeated, the movie Rocky portrayed a smalltime happy go lucky boxer played by Stallone, very natural acting by him, got a shot at the most prestigeous boxing title, was only chosen by the Champion himself, just to make Rocky looks stupid in the ring as part of the spectacle set by the champion as part of the celebration.
any way, one thing that got me is all the cast except Burgess Meredith are all new or unknown, they are all great, all natural.
the boxing scenes are perfectly done, this is actually the most realistic boxing movie since Raging Bull by De Niro and I think the Academy has made the right choice to vote this one as the 1976 Best Picture.Was this review helpful? Yes - NoROCKY BALBOA

Rocky is a classic story of an underdog boxer who gets a chance at the title. The best part about this movie is the training scene. The music is fits right with the movie, could not work for any other. They have made four other movies that continue with Rocky's life, and soon another will come out, they're all pretty good,but against the original, they are like pluto vs JUPITER. This movie is a classic, if you have not seen it, you are missing out on a great movie. I hope Rocky VI is not a bad movie, they will need to add some more character that makes it stand out from the others.

If you haven't seen any of the Rocky movies yet then what are you waiting for? The five best movies ever to be made. Nothing else can compare to stallone and his classic series of Rocky movies. I've seen each one at least a sixty times and they never get boring. I can't wait for Rocky VI. I don't care what anyone says, there is no such thing as a bad rocky movie.

Rocky is an all-time classic that was tarnished by the four sequels. In the first one, Stallone brilliantly plays the Philly-based boxer (though I think Robert De Niro could've done well in the part, but I digress).

I think that i might just be the biggest rocky fan ever, i feel that with the exception to #5, the rocky movies were definitely the best set ever made. The down to earth, real life drama of a man who made something of his self with his fists, because he had nothing else, its just so moving!!!!

Rocky is a movie unlike any other. It completely grasps the viewer and makes them fall in love with all the characters. Rocky has more 'heart' than any film can ever dream of. I feel that any movie who can have the main character lose at the end and still end up a hero...deserves all the credit! The sequel is just as good!

Words cannot explain the 'ROCKY' series of films. Whenever I watch this film I just want to get out there and do the same as he did. Also luck is involved. You have to be in the right place at the right time, and also have the right name as in ROCKY'S case. What the films are saying is 'You can be anyhting or anyone you want as long as you have the heart and the sheer determination'. If you have the chance to get your hands on the soundtrack's DO!! the music is amazing, it sends shivers down my spine every time I listen to the tracks and I find them a good aid when I go to the gym. Its a pity you can only rate this film up to 5, as I would like to give the 'ROCKY' series a rating of 5,000,000.

Rocky and Rocky II are the best movies in that class of sport. There are no others like this. On TNT, they always have the Rocky series playing. You better buy these DVD's, because you will not be able to find them in the future! Love the part when he breaks Apollo's ribs !!!!
