Pros: Mark Wahlberg.... The hottest man alive!!!! I worship him

Cons: Nothing... the movie was kick ass!!!!

I loved the fact that they picked Mark because i dont think any other actor could have portryed the role quite as good although i didnt like the girl who was all evil(i dont even want to remember her name!!) she was a homewrecker and the fat guy who looked like a mouse was gay so other than that it Rocked!!!!

Pros: The drugs and weed and chicks.

Cons: The drugs and weed and chicks.

Hmm, I suppose I like that I use my penis as a microphone. Or at least metaphorically speaking, I am. Yoda is what I mean to say I am. Yadda Yadda Yadda Seinfield is last in place of Kramer's karma as a kin to My Dadd's Great HEART!

Pros: Mark Wahlberg does a great job

    Cons: Horrible movie

This was supposedly based on the story of JUDAS PRIEST and the departure of their singer ROB HALFORD who was replaced by Tim Owens who was in a JUDAS PRIEST tribute band.
The band wanted nothing to do with this movie, and I can't say I blame them.
The story is mediocre, the acting is very one dimensional; but the songs and the performances rock.
Basically, the moral of the story is "if you're in a heavy metal band, quit and start a band like Pearl Jam".
    What a crock.
DO NOT WATCH THIS MOVIE; get the soundtrack instead.
    You will not be disappointed.

"Rock Star" is a movie that recreates the 80's

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Feb 18, 2006

    Pros: A dream come true

    Cons: no cons

    By Brett Keane

"Rock Star" is a movie that recreates the hard rock era that was the 1980s. Bands of all types of metal (from pop to death) benefited from the popularity that metal experienced during that time, and this movie helps recreate that time for people (like myself) who were young then, and are thankful that they grew up during those years.

By now, almost everyone knows that this movie is loosely based on Tim "Ripper" Owens of Judas Priest fame, but it doesn't draw heavily from his real-life story. Instead, "Rock Star" creates its own identity, and delivers the story of a rock fan who didn't find his dream, but had his dream find him. Mark Wahlberg and Jennifer Aniston (both of whom are very good actors, and somewhat underrated) turn in good performances.

The soundtrack is, in a word, phenomenal. There are several original songs recorded by the members of the fictional Steel Dragon band represented in the film. In fact, many of the musicians who recorded the original songs portray their fictional counterparts in the movie. Zakk Wylde (Ozzy Osbourne's band, Black Label Society), Jason Bonham (who pounded the skins for his own band, Bonham, as well as being the son of legendary Led Zeppelin drummer John Bonham), Jeff Pilson (Dokken), among others, were recruited to bring this band's music to life. For their efforts alone, this movie gets points.

One could say that "Rock Star" was overlooked at the box office. Then again, this movie could be considered a "niche" movie, as many younger people who are part of the current hip-hop generation would have a tough time appreciating it. It also is obviously targeting the 80s metal crowd as its audience. If you were a part of that time and miss it, as I do, you will very much enjoy this movie.

The best thing about this movie...

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Jan 22, 2002

I grew up listening to the "Big Hair Bands", such as Bon Jovi, Warrant, and bands such as GunsNRoses, Whitesnake, etc. The coolest thing about this movie was that the fictional band members, are REAL band members, and trying to figure out which bands they came from...what a collection! I also enjoyed trying to figure out which parts "Marky Mark" (Wahlberg) sang for himself (he did most of his own singing in the movie with exception of some of the "signature 80's" high notes which were dubbed). Then I found out this was "loosely based" on a true story...WOW, that was a plus! Only one thing, Wahlberg is not as hot with long hair...lol

    Very well put together

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Nov 12, 2001

I thought that the movie was done very well. The plot was very interesting and it had that kind of fantasy story line going for it. Just when you think that the entire movie is going to be like every other non-realistic, dream come true; reality sinks in. Loved the music, acting, directing, and story. Would recommend it to any TRUE rock n' roll fan.
